Please note, at the time of writing this pub has just been sold to new owners. The pub itself and the campsite are currently closed. We hope to be able to advise soon that it has reopened. If you have any information that it has in fact opened again, we would be very grateful if you could please let us know.

This is a lovely quiet and rural site with a pub within a few yards of the caravan door. There is also a village shop on the site, although we did not use it so cannot share information about what was available.
We had our own facilities and only needed water and electricity, but the site also takes tents and has a Portaloo for times when the pub is closed.
If you have a caravan it is advisable to take levellers.
Halesworth, the nearest town, is a small market town with just about everything available. The local Indian restaurant is also highly recommended!
The landlord is very friendly and the on-site micro-brewery was a wonderful and unexpected bonus. The price of the ale was also good value and the Mighty Oak beer is highly recommended.
It was very good value for money and we will be going again, taking our sons with their tents and families.

We stayed at the Wissett Plough with a group of friends. The camp site is a little bumpy in places and the facilities consist of the pub toilets when it is open, water from a tap behind the pub and a single portaloo, but do not be put off. The portaloo was spotlessly clean when we arrived and well supplied with toilet paper. There is shade from trees on the site, which in hot weather in a tent is always welcome. You can walk your dog straight from the site, a footpath crosses the filed immediately behind the camping area. The best thing about camping at the Plough is the pub itself - it's a lovely traditional pub with very welcoming hosts, excellent real ales and good food at reasonable prices. It's very dog friendly. In addition there is a very handy little shop behind the pub which sells all the essentials and some nice local ice cream. All in all it is a delightful spot for traditional camping, they charge a very reasonable £5 per tent per night and I will definitely stay there again.

The site is a CS / CL type, but not yet affiliated to either Club. We stayed for the Annual Beer Festival, and very enjoyable it was too.
Generally Wissett is an attractive, unspoilt and quiet village, and the site is totally peaceful.
The pitching area a substantial, roughly triangular area set well behind the pub. It is well sheltered with a bit of an uneven surface, and for the most part, gently sloping.
There is a single PortaLoo and you can use the pub wc during open hours. However, own sanitation would be very desirable.
EHU is available from a single distribution point which is fitted with domestic 13A square pin sockets, so you will need an adapter to connect to your blue ‘commando socket’. Water and chem disposal has not yet been formalised. (Water is a long garden hose from pub kitchen, and chem disposal is into PortaLoo. )
The pub itself is comfortable without being pretentious and serves good, very reasonably priced food and beer from its own micro-brewery. (Potting Shed Brewery). There are also frequent event organised (eg; Annual Beer Festival, Tapas nights, Fun Bike Ride), see website for details.
Site is very dog friendly with nice dog walks on footpaths leading directly from pitching area. Pub is also dog friendly and produces healthy homemade “dog doughnuts”. Ours ‘woofed’ them down!
Most conveniently, Wissett Community Village Store is located on site. A very useful facility for your basics, gas exchange and more. Everything you need can be obtained in nearby Halesworth.
To sum up: A classic camping / caravanning experience. At currently, £7 / ‘van / night and £5 / tent / night, an excellent ‘pub site’. Well worth a visit. Cheers!

This is a basic site with just an outside tap and a chemical event toilet for when the pub is closed. The field is on a slight slope and there are only two electric hook up points, but plenty of space for children to run around safely especially as we had the whole field to ourselves.
We camped after the bank holiday weekend and the chemical toilet was in need of emptying. The site has only had it a short while so it is still a learning curve for them and we took our own bucket for emergencies as this was anticipated.
The pub staff are friendly and meals reasonably priced, free wifi in bar but doesn't extend to the camping field.
Over all excellent value for money and we will definitely return.

Just spent a couple of nights here. Good pub and food (look out for the lunchtime specials - 2 courses for £7.50 or 3 for £10) - it even has it's own micro brewery. Staff are very friendly and helpful and rates are very reasonable (£5 non-electric, £7 with EHU). Pitches are slightly sloping, but nothing that levelling ramps can solve.
You have to be aware that this is a very nice but basic site. The EHUs have got 13A 3pin domestic type sockets. I had left my adaptor lead at home, but the landlord soon found me a 13A plug to sort out my problem. There are no showers and you use the pubs loos, so it is advisable to have your own porta-potti for emergencies when the pub is shut. If the weather is nice, there are loads of benches and tables around the site you can use.
So, if you want an all singing and dancing site this is not for you, but if you like the quiet life, with a good pub on the doorstep, it's ideal. The site is not far from the east coast - the nearest resort of renown is Southwold.
Would I go again? - definitely.
