Nice quiet little site in a very good location situated between 2 villages.
We were met by the owners who showed us around and gave us a choice of plots while pointing out the pros and cons of each. They even took the time to come and speak to us afterwards to make sure everything was OK.
The shower block was very clean.
The site could possibly do with a bit of TLC and investment but the price reflects this.
Overall I would say it offers fantastic value for money and would definitely recommend it.

On approch up lane looks like entry into a scrap yard and doesn't get any better from there. Reception full of junk and stuff, bags of soil opposite our pitch.
Abandoned bus and scrapped caravans, overflowing bins. Just not a good image. Toilet block needs maintenance, tidy up and cleaning done regularly. Pathways around lakes are overgrown and need cut back.
Old sofas and furniture stored and lying in the open definitely gives an air of hoarding or scrap yard. Unpleasant atmosphere and not nice at all.
Only good thing that I can say about this place is the hot showers and plenty of toilets.

Just off the A1, this site is so quiet but it desperately needs some TLC. You need to drive to reach any facilities.
The reception doesn't present a good first impression with piles of clutter, everything from a photocopier to stuffed animals, mountains of stuff, such a shame. Moving on to the facilities just off reception, tap won't turn off in toilet, sink for washing up leaks, no hot water without boiling the kettle to wash up, 2 x broken washing machines, abandoned coach in tourer park, piles of black sacks left at entrance to tourer part.
The new shower block looks fine from the outside but inside is stale smelling with very dirty floors and no where to place your toilet bag apart from in the sink at the side of you.
It is very inconvenient when unloading your belongings as you have to use wheelbarrows, not ideal when you have belongings for a family for 3 nights to unload in the rain and several hundred yards to walk. There is a gate closer to the tents which I totally understand is locked to prevent unwanted visitors walking around, but why not put a combination lock on the gate the only give the code to the glampers.
We stayed in one of the glamping tents which was fine, as expected. However the lake which is in the centre of the glamping tents is very very weedy, making it almost impossible to fish. Such a shame, it could be so good.

Booked a few days earlier. Richard sounded pleasant on phone but on arrival met by Bill who was minding place while owner not there. Said we could chose anywhere, chose pitch right next to new shower block. Looked inside shower block it was filthy didn't look like it had been cleaned since built. Floor filthy, toilet seats all move. Shower just as bad, handle came off in my hand. When I gave handle to warden he just said again it's always doing that. Reading other reviews owner says they get checked 3\4 times a day. Believe me they don't or they would of cleaned them. I looked in daily they didn't get cleaned.
Grass was long they didn't get cut until the Thursday when owner returned. Around the one lake that was open very untidy cuttings all piled up near pegs.
A large wooden shed full of rubbish was eye saw. Old caravans dumped all over site. Fishing poor. The driveway into site had pot holes, bigger by the day. And for some reason people were jumping from one pitch to another this happened a few times a day. As not allocated a pitch properly. Needs organising better. Won't be staying again.

New shower block is spot on; Absolutely brilliant best mini break I've ever had, really nice people and quality fishing lakes should you fancy it.
The site is really quiet and peaceful.
Lovely surroundings, easy access to pubs and town centre and a nice site in general. Would use again.

We have just spent a great weekend here. First impressions was not great the site looked like the Australian outback, quirky but pleasant not the norm for what you are usually expected to from a cl touring site. Quirky can sometimes be a good thing, and this site gets a way with it. It has lots of character and great views.
Site is nice and quiet, great pitch size although as said before you mite need to chock one wheel slightly ( I do mean slightly ) ehu never tripped out and we had heating on. Toilets we used to disable wc as well as our own. Pitch price was £11 per night which to be perfectly honest is probably £1 - £3 a night too cheap for whats available. I would gladly pay £14 per night. It looks like there is a new toilets and shower block built and in the final process of being completed.
Quick summary. Very cheap site with no frills plenty of space and views. Access is a lot better than some we have been to, road a little twisty but easily enough space for two cars to pass, close enough to A1 as well ( we stopped at truckstop/ services to get a subway ) northallerton 10-15mins drive away with everything there you need, supermarket and plenty of shops.

This is quite a nice CL, easy to find, only a couple of miles from J51 of the A1 so handy for a stopover. Costs 11 pounds per night and has the added bonus of a loo and shower, which we didn't use so can't comment. The final stretch of road is fairly narrow but fine with care. The track to the site is fine.
The CL is quite a small area, well drained grass, slightly sloping at the end so you will need chocks for one side. The only problem is that the grass is not cut very often and is not picked up, had to remove it ourselves as it was rather unpleasant.
This part of the site overlooks one of the fishing lakes with swallows flying around, ducks and a heron, very pleasant. There is a larger area without EHU where hardstandings are being made. Past here is another larger lake with a good walk around the edge.
The site owner looks like an old hippy (of the male variety), long hair, scarf tied around his head. He is very nice, as is his daughter.
Northallerton is the nearest town, has a large Tesco but is not very exciting. Richmond is lovely, go to the old station which has a picture gallery (you can buy pictures), a micro brewery, cinema, gift shop and there are walks along the river Swale.
