This is an amazing campsite. We loved the glade we pitched in and the fact the site allows campfires in the glades.
The compost toilets were fine. Choice of outdoor or indoor showers.
The owner was very helpful and friendly. We loved the shop especially as they hired children's games which my 2 boys loved. Very reasonable price to stay.
The labyrinth was a nice touch if a little overgrown in parts.
Our new favourite campsite - would definitely recommend and return.

Warm and welcoming atmosphere from the owner. The pitches are flat and level on a grassy field. The facilities are perfectly adequate for a short break - the open air shower was fabulous on the very hot weekend that we stayed.
There is also an indoor shower for cooler temperatures. The compost toilets are fine but if you really can't face them there are standard loos a short distance away. A laid back site with a relaxed friendly atmosphere during our stay, very sociable.
Not much room for children to play but a lovely site for little ones. Very quiet at night. Bars and shops within walking distance. Reasonable priced for this area.

We camped here while canoeing the river Thames and although the campsite doesn’t have direct river access we could land just below bridge on north bank which was only a 100m from the campsite.
This is a back to basics campsite with composting toilets, that didn’t smell, and a shower and washing up facilities in the camping field. There was also flush toilet and shower at the main house 100m away.
A truly lovely laid back campsite where you can have a fire. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. This is camping as it should be. £5 per tent. There is also a labyrinth for the children to explore.

Had another quick one night stop here on the way to the South West Coast.
Love this site, but it's got very basic facilities, so won't suit everyone. In the field are two outside compost toilets and an "al fresco" shower ( which I loved! ) In the house itself is a combined toilet / shower room which is functional.
Small field, flat, dry and tidy, with five motorhome / caravan pitches and another small field with a number of tent pitches and "Glamping" pre-erected Bell Tents.
Best thing about this place is it's location, although you can't see the river from the pitches, it's two minutes walk from the Thames, and from there miles and miles of fab walking on your doorstep.
Pub five minutes walk across the bridge which does food, and has a nice garden overlooking the Thames. Go EAST along the Thames Path for approx 1 1/2 miles and you will come to Benson Waterfront which has a lovely licenced cafe overlooking the boat moorings.
Back to the site itself, as always the owners were very friendly and accommodating. Paid £15 for the night, one adult, one dog.

We chose this site as it is on the edge of the Thames and we fancied some river walking.
I phoned and chatted with a friendly lady who advised me they had space and to just turn up. I foolishly didn't ask the prices on the phone and upon arrival I almost fell over when they charged me £15 for one person in a small VW without electric hookup. The gentleman that checked us in was also very friendly and told us about the facilities, etc.
Unless you know the site is there, you may miss it from the road, as it is not well signposted at all, but once you are on the road leading to the site, there is a sign for them and an arrow pointing you in the right direction.
The site is made up of 3 fields, all flat and well maintained. Next to the house is a toilet and shower and in the far corner of one of the fields are two composting toilets and one open air shower. Whilst all are usable and do the job, they could do with a bit of an upgrade, however they worked. There are a couple of fresh water taps on site and they encourage recycling. You cannot really see the Thames from the site as the surrounding field was quite overgrown, but this didn't matter too much to us.
Dogs are welcome on this site and must be kept on a lead, however this is a gem for them as it is right on the Thames path, therefore walking options go on for miles and miles each way.
Opposite the site, across the Thames is the Shillingford Hotel and they have benches by the river and serve a good choice of drinks and food. A mile or so up the river is Benson Waterfront and they also sell food all day and a range of drinks. Bensons is a bit more pricey than Shillingford Hotel and I thought the menu choice was overall better at Shillingford.
Close to a couple of major cities and walks, and overall a site that I won't return to as it is just too much money for person on their own. Maybe reduce the prices to a per person charge and this would encourage me, and no doubt others, to visit in the future.

We stayed at this campsite whilst babysitting our grandson, who's parents had gone to a wedding nearby. We stayed in the Alternative Accommodation - the house of the campsite owners Philip and Rosemary.
We couldn't have been made to feel more welcome, nothing was too much trouble for them, even though they were busy looking after the site and the campers.
We went over to see the campsite, as we usually camp - it was lovely and in sight of the river.
