We returned to Playa Tropicana in June, the first time since pre-covid, not sure what to expect. We used to visit Playa Tropicana for 4 or 5 weeks every year.
The plots are a good size, some with water and drainage, all with electricity, with oleander planted for privacy and plenty of trees for shade.
We used the pool/beach and often cycled into Alcossebre for lunch (still love Casa Isabel).
However, whereas the site used to be bustling, the site was virtually empty for the first 12 nights which could be because the price has now gone up to euro 35 a night, the highest price we paid on our 5/6 week trip. There were cheaper pitches which were smaller and without water but we didn’t think we would get our motorhome on them.
There’s still plenty of hot water in the showers and washing up sinks though really it is time to replace the rusty shower heads and locks and maybe give some of the facilities a facelift … it’s looking tired.
We were going to extend our stay until a dozen or so Irish traveller’ outfits descended and parked totally surrounding us which changed the ambience totally and we moved on.
I would love to return because we do really enjoy the site and Alcossebre but do think if they are charging euro 35 a night then it’s time to modernise some of the facilities.

Currently here on the CCC rally on the way back to France. When we arrived the people on reception were very helpful in directing us to the stewards location. After meeting them we were shown available pitches which were all around the far toilet block between row N and O, we decided on O12 as this had the best sun for the day. On getting to the pitch there are quite high curbs and a drop onto the pitch and had the motor mover not been up to it we would have struggled as no room other side of the road.
The site itself is very clean and tidy. Facilities are excellent, plenty of hot water both in the showers and the washing up room. The bar and restaurant on site also good value but better and cheaper meals can be found off site. On the downside to our visit was our location of pitch, as said before it was directly outside the toilet / washroom where you have a constant stream of people turning up throughout the day and a radio playing constantly in the toilet / washroom for approximately 12 hours of the day. I did go to reception and ask for this to be turned down but to no avail, so if you want peace and quiet make sure you're as far from the toilet block as possible.
But all in all a lovely site. Just need to pay more attention when I turn up to my surroundings.

I travelled to this site a couple of years ago with my uncle, he’d been going there years and told me such great things. In my eyes I don’t think there is a better camp site. The staff are so friendly and welcoming! The people you meet at the camp site too are very friendly. You have all that you need, washing machine, the sun to dry your clothes, running water close to most pitches, electricity, showers and toilets which I must add that the staff go above and beyond when it comes to cleaning. Never did I see a mess in the toilets, always spotless and smelling nice. The showers you’d expect that the water wouldn’t run as well or could be on a metre but no. You could stay in it hours if you want and you’d still have perfect heat.
You feel at ease at night as it’s fenced off all around the site and the gates close at 11 o’clock in the evening, for added safety you’ll get security doing the round every half hour to hour making sure nothing is out of the ordinary.
I really can’t fault this place, there is a heated indoor swimming pool, a lovely outside pool which of course isn’t going to be warm in December or January if you decide to be stupid like me and jump in haha. They have a consum shop which you can get all your daily needs. 1 minute walk max to the beach which is right on the door step. Have a brilliant club house which is great to go to in the evenings to socialise.
Such a lovely area to be based as well. I would encourage anyone to come here even just for a week. You’ll definitely be coming back. I spent two months at this site and I couldn’t have thought of a better place to be. In the quiet periods it’s extremely cheap to stay there. I say cheap, it’s extremely good value for what you get:) You have Alcocebre just down the road where you’ll never walk more than a few metres without bumping into English people. Have a lovely English charity shop which you can get some great bargains. A beautiful little English cafe where you can go on and talk to everyone. People are so welcoming there. Such a lovely place to stay. Thank you for being so accommodating.

We loved our time here in May, so much so, we are returning next year for longer.
In May Alcossebre was lovely and quiet and really safe to cycle in to town on (nearly) empty roads. We didn't use the beach over the road from the site but chose to use a lovely sandy bay half a mile away.
The showers and wc's were the cleanest I have ever come across and the showers had masses of hot water which wasn't on a timer.
I would just like to say the previous reviewer (sorry didn't get his name) is incorrect. They certainly do have pitches with electricity / water / waste. Quite a lot of them. We stayed on one of them.
The indoor pool was incredibly warm. Imagine a large bath!
There is also a shop on site which is quite well stocked. Refuse is collected from your pitch each morning.
Maybe not the prettiest site but in a lovely position and very clean.

Although a very large site it is laid out well with pitches split on to fairly short rows. All pitches have electric, however none of the pitches have water or waste. There are press button water taps on every row, but it is painfully slow for filling - no motorhome service point. Signs show to empty grey water in one of the chemical disposals - not ideal for motorhomes.
The toilets and showers are immaculate, cleaner in and out regularly and keep everything really well. Showers had plenty of hot water and good water pressure, block is heated too. There are two laundy / washing up area both with loads of hot water. Also 11kg washing machines for €5.
There is an indoor and outdoor pool. Indoor is heated and amazingly was very quiet, same for the jacuzzi both included in price.
A good 20 minute walk into Alcossebre, where there are cafes and bars. Very few shops but still a good place for a wander.
Campers with dogs are all pitched in one area, rest of the site is dog free. Site is literally steps onto the beach, a fairly shallow pebble area onto the sea. Signs show no dogs allowed but we saw several on the beach being walked from campsite every time we passed.
Pitches size vary into I think it was 7 different tariffs. If with ACSI then its €19 for most pitches - if not then low season prices from €28 to €38 dependent on pitches.
A popular and reasonably busy site in winter, if you like cycling and walking then its ideal as plenty of paths and tracks. If not you probably want transport to get our further afield.

Super situation on attractive coastline. Shower blocks extreemly well maintained as are the plots and access roads. Excellent supermarket, play area, parrot enclosure and swimming pool on site as well swimming just across road on attractive beach. (Watch out for submerged rocks and therefore enter sea where experienced campers are entering the water. ) For a pleasant cycle ride turn right and hug the coastal road to next town to the south. Walk or cycle LEFT into busy and attractive village shopping area. Campsite staff are extremely curteous and helpful and you should enjoy this super site. One thing you may want to avoid is parking under any fruiting Mulberry trees otherwise you may end-up with a red roof. It should wash-off of a metal caravan roof. When we saw a tenter arrive he erected a large sheet over his tent and car. We thought it was to avoid the sun. Until we noticed the fruit marks on our caravan. Reductions long stay.
