We stayed in the motor home service area next to the main camping / caravan site. There is a barriered entrance which needs operating by a person from the site next door.
The area itself is dead flat and laid out like a car park. There are 60+ pitches. The 6 nearest the (busy) road have electric hook ups. The only water we could see was a tap next to the black water disposal. We did without. There are 2 toilets for the whole area, no showers.
When we arrived we were the only vehicle. During the evening 3 more arrived. However at about 11pm a large motor home arrived with 5 young men aboard. They pitched right next to us and were noisy until about 3am.
We had been on the overnight ferry the previous night and had very little sleep and had a similar sleep deprived night thanks to thoughtless youngsters.
The site is fine for a one night stopover. There are nearer sites to the ferry terminal but our rig has a twin rear axle so, for us, this was the closest. At €13 very cheap.

(From the perspective of a backpacker with a single small tent)
This site is ok, though (despite being quiet when I visited) a little crowded. It is flat and has some shade, as well as being sheltered. It's in quite a quiet location with a bit of a view to the mountains which is nice.
The staff were very friendly and certainly made me feel welcome, which was nice having spent a day walking there in high temperatures.
The facilities are fine - fairly clean and not too run-down, and the prices were decent. There is a supermarket about a kilometer away, and then Somo isn't much further.

Myself and a friend arrived here mid October 2014.
We had looked at other sites in the area but needed somewhere a bit more sheltered form the strong winds.
On Arrival to the site it didn't look nice. It looked a bit grubby. On further inspection it really was the entrance that was off putting. We found a really nice patch of grass right at the back of the site which we had to ourselves for the 4 days we were there.
We had the best nights sleep on this site as we were tucked away from the rest of the site.
The campsite bar came alive on the weekend with lots of Spanish families from Bilbao. They weren't strangers to partying and singing but were lovely people. We had a great night with them all.
The toilet block is ok. I'd give it 7 out of 10 as the hot water is very intermittent. There is, however a small room to the side which has a mini bath, shower and toilet in where the hot water seem to work ok. Also I heard the ladies toilet block was fine for hot water.
The owner of the site is a really nice guy and very chilled.
At the top of the road (about 1km) there is a very good 'locals' bar restaurant where you can get a good 'menu del dia' for 10 euros. There's also a supermarket near the bar for all supplies.
I would definitely recommend Somo Parque.
