Please note we have been advised that the campsite at this location is now permanently closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches. The pub itself is still open and offering rooms to rent.
If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

We enjoyed our time here. The site is not level but you can cope with it.
The facilities are very basic but adequate. The wifi is very weak.
We had dinner at the Lodge which was good value. We were told that the Sunday Carvery is excellent and there is live music from 3. 30 to 6. 30 on the day.
The bus service is good and timely.
A good low-key stay all round.

Very nice service
We had quite a lot of campsite to stay at and there was a campfire on each area
On the field there was a clean separate toilet and you can use the shower with hot water
Very quiet area and you can relax there from the city
I will be more than happy to come back once more and stay for longer!

Generally a quiet site BUT, Sunday morning a clay pigeon shooting club was in a field about 20 yard from the camping site and sunday afternoon music in the garden of the lodge ( made the car park difficult to get through, though didn't interfere with the campsite).
A bit far from Norwich for a taxi but the Sprowton park and ride ony 10 minutes drive way.

Lovely setting.
Within walking distance to Wroxham along off road path and Salhouse Broad. Handy if you would like to have a drink and a game of pool at the pub.

Very friendly and helpful, well looked after campsite, good food, and good value for money.
We would stay there again.
We were able to leave motorhome in a safe campsite and use taxis to travel to local attractions.

The surrounding area is, of course, outstanding for the beauty of the Broads, villages and proximity to the coast and Norwich. Wroxham is close by too, with Roys supermarket. Many of the nearby villages have attractive pubs to eat in, eg Coltishall, Woodbastwick, Ranworth. There's the Lodge as well! Mustn't forget that! How Hill, Horning, BeWilderwood, Potter Heigham are all close.
At the front of the site, traffic noise can be high, particularly during commuting periods. It virtually dies at around 11:45pm. The site is undulating, so you have to pick your spot. The grass is kept short, though the cuttings are left down. So, take care not to tread it into your 'van or tent. I haven't seen a problem with dogs, thank goodness. When dogs have been on site, owners have been considerate and kept them tethered.
The shower block, although purpose built and cleaned daily, does let the site down a little - but this could be rectified in a morning! The gents' urinals have been semi-blocked for a long time now, as with the single sink. Not hygienic, and not pleasant seeing the 'calling cards' of a previous visitors, one might say. I have pointed the problem out, but no action yet.
There are two shower cubicles in the gents and for a £1 token you get a great, 8 or 10 minute shower. Piping hot - great after a day's, hard, sweaty cycling! There is only one gents toilet pan. And, again, lack of maintenance has let this down. The seat has been loose for some time. A ten minute job to fix it.
Drinking water is, apparently from the site's own well. I've drunk a lot of it and have had no issues there.
The site has many trees around it and you'll hear the pigeons cooing as you wake up in the morning.
There is children's play equipment there, though I can't say I noticed too much about it. (I'm too old!).
There are also something like 8 hookup sites for caravans and motorhomes. Again, I don't use these.
Overall, a good, unpretentious site, with very reasonable and fair fees, particularly when compared with many others.

Attached to Salhouse Lodge (an AA/RAC 4* hotel), the site is a CS/CL type arrangement but not currently affiliated to either Club.
Pitching area is in a slightly elevated position adjacent to the Lodge car park and fairly near the road, so cannot be described as entirely peaceful or private. EHU area is reasonably level, it measures very approx. 30m x 30m and laid out for 5/6 fairly closely spaced pitches. Most of the remainder of the field is unsuitable due to gradient.
Facilities are conveniently nearby. (Shower £1 token). Interior is unheated, has modern fittings and is well maintained. Chem disposal is very approx 80m across the field.
Camping tariff is not published on website or displayed in Lodge. We were charged £15 per night ('Van, ehu, 2x adult, 1x dog)
Lodge itself offers campers a large, smart, traditional styled bar (no real/craft beers), real log fire, free Wi Fi, a substantial outside seating area, and periodic entertainment. Menu looked good with most main courses less than £10.
Dogs accepted (not in bar). I could not find an entirely traffic free dog walk directly accessible from site. We drove the 1 mile to walk round Salhouse Broad.
A personal recommendation: The Fur & Feathers nearby in Woodbastwick. Woodfordes Brewery's flagship outlet where all their current beers are available 'on gravity'. The restaurant is also good. (Expect a two course meal to cost around £20 per person)
To sum up: A very good 'pub site' and a good base from which to visit Norwich & the Broads, but have stayed on more picturesque & private CS/CL type sites.

Location is superb, and quiet despite being adjacent to the car park of the pub/restaurant on site (which we didn't try because we prefer to self cater). It's also quite close to the road but there is very little traffic in the evening.
Very handy for the Broads and many other attractions in the area. Our favourite was the Bure Valley Railway - an absolute delight. The staff we met were very friendly.
The pitches are on a field and some outfits may need some levelling blocks. Shower/toilet block is at best pretty basic but quite clean. I would have liked to have a shower curtain to keep clothes dry whilst showering. Showers last for approx. 8 minutes with plenty of hot water and reasonable pressure. Tokens are purchased from the hotel bar for £1 each, which I thought was a bit steep but they will refund unused tokens. The usual items like washup sink (with a small roof), water disposal etc. Are present. Electric is available to all numbered pitches.
We did not notice any children's playground, etc.
We had intended to stay just the one night but extended to two. This site is definitely in our favourites book!

This is a really good site. Been there 3 times now and always been made welcome. Very quiet site. At Christmas we were the only one's on site. We were there when there was high winds. Will be going back in feb 2013. We have family close by so perfect place for us. Lost electric with the storms, the manager did everything to get the power back on for us. It is a good site for the broads. Really friendly site. Cannot wait to go back. The showers and toilets are cleaned daily
