Lovely quiet site, very friendly and helpful owners. The setting is lovely, goats in the foreground and forest in the background. A road runs along one side but it didn’t bother us at all.
The facilities are basic but very clean. I was pleasantly surprised by the water pressure in the showers.
As an added bonus, you can buy goat burgers and sausages from the farmer, which I can’t recommend highly enough! We’ve booked to go back!

If you like rural and quiet with a lack of on site facilities (club, bar, swimming pool etc) and crowds then this may be a site for you. Run by a welcoming family and close to Dorchester for all your shopping needs. It’s not a big site so pitching opportunities maybe limited if busy. If you pitch facing the woods it’s feels like you’re almost alone on the site. Facilities for washing up (just the one) and showering (two) are basic but perfectly adequate. The on site Tippees were in frequent use mainly by short stay visitors. There is a road close by but it didn’t cause any distraction at all.

Lovely campsite set on a working farm, toilet block and shower was spotless very quiet site apart from animals not that I heard them, set in beautiful countryside with quite a few historic sites within 20 mile radius both english heritage and national trust, owners are very friendly and helpful town of dorchester is nearby for shoping no playground if you have children but weymouth is 7 miles away with all the attractions of a seaside town overall a 1st class site.

Nice site. Very pleasant owners and a good location with the goats and sheep on view in the fields. Very close to Thomas Hardys cottage and great walks through Puddletown Forest. Ok facilities with pre paid cards. Five EHU pitches also with pre paid cards. Fire pits for hire and bags of logs for sale. Had a couple of great evenings around the 'camp fire'.

Rented the whole site (including four pre erected bell tents) for a week in August. Stunning views, lovely goats and sheep and friendly owners. The showers and toilets are the portable kind (although 'posh' with running water etc) and there is EHU available although only to one of the bell tents. Despite the dreadful rain we had a brilliant time. The site owners were very easy to deal with from start to finish.

A newly opened site on a working farm; clean facilities, friendly, accommodating owners. The site's attraction is its simplicity - no playground, no shop, no bar - just fantastic views from the gently sloping field across the valley to Thorncombe wood. Entertainment is provided by the sheep and goats in the pastures! Fantastic location near Hardy's cottage but only 3 miles from Dorchester - ideal for us middle-aged, first-time backpackers!
The only downside is the level of traffic that seems to use the quiet county lane as a rat run through to Dorchester at certain times of the day.

Very friendly welcome, very tidy site, clean facilities. Bit too far to walk to local pub. Enjoyed our 1 night stay. Recommended. The lady who runs this has started the site and she has clearly put in a lot of effort. She has tents already erected which seems An excellent idea for travellers. The local area is stunning with many lovely places to see. Some nice pubs, wish we had gone to the blue vinny in puddletown for supper as the pub we went to in west Stafford was over priced and the portions minute. Will definitely visit thorncombe again and I hope it is a success.
