Arrived to a very friendly reception by the owners. Had an ACSI card but was told it might be cheaper without as I am a lone traveller and it was. So that is a plus point for me. Bought a token for the shower, 1 euro. The pitch was a little difficult to find as the numbers are painted on stones laying flat. It was a pitch close to the river, but I actually moved a couple further along which was free. This was because the route for my cable to the electricity would have had to pass through a group of 5 tents and I didn't think this was good. I still needed the whole length of 75 meters that I have to reach the pole on which was the hook up for about a dozen pitches. That's a lot of cable floating around. You need a euro adapter. Back to the showers I asked how long we got and the answer was about 7 min plenty long enough and the water was plenty warm enough in fact almost too. I had a shower, washed my hair and was still waiting at the end for the water to stop. I have stayed now at a few sites in Belgium and the shower cubicles are very similar a good meter in width with a separate drying area with a seat and hooks, so far so good but the wall separating wet from dry only goes across about a third of it and has a six inch gap at the bottom. The showers are fixed head and seem to be universally directed at the gap. Thus the floor in the drying area gets rather wet. But I had a good warm shower. Generally the toilets and showers were clean. Probably seen better but they were not dirty. There were plenty of places for water on the site and the washing up area was clean with good hot water. The position is amazing, especially if you have a pitch facing the river. Not really within walking distance of the town but it is not far to drive and there was parking available when I was there. It is a nice little town to mooch around. Would I stay here again yes I would and I would certainly recommend it. Some down points but not at all a bad site.

My son (adult) and I spent 3 nights here. We both thought it was an excellent site. It is very large and we stayed at it's neighbouring site a little further down the lane. You register, however at the main Camping Benelux reception. We got a riverside spot which was terrific. Plenty of wood available in the forest for campfires. It would be a jaunt into town but you can drive to within 100m of the town centre so it is really convenient. The showers are by token and unlike your other reviewer we found that they were excellent. Hot and plentiful. In fact I wondered if it was ever going to stop! The weather was very hot apart from the morning we were leaving when of course. It rained.
The site seemed to be largely composed of semi residential plots, presumably kept for the season if not the year. Very quiet then. Take your own toilet paper and soap as these are not provided.
The town is quite small and touristy and there seems to be an emphasis on cycling and canoeing, etc. Outdoor activities then. We just wanted to relax! The Spar supermarket (in town) had everything you might need and an excellent selection of stuff for the BBQ. The Museum is well worth a visit to find out everything you might need to know about the 'Battle of the bulge' in WW2.
As I said there is not much to do in bad weather unless you tour the area looking for historical places associated with 'the Battle'. We were lucky with the weather so thoroughly enjoyed it.

We arrived at this site and were asked at the reception if we would like 4 amp or 10 amp power at no extra charge. The main site is 4 amp but there is another site Le Grillon around 400 metres down a small lane that has 10 amp. They both seem to be run and owned by the same people. We chose the 10 amp site. The reception at Le Grillon always seemed to be closed so if you wanted anything you had to go to the main reception at the entrance to the Benelux site. Between the 2 sites there are around 500 pitches with yet another site further down the lane which seems a different entity. Having said that even though there were loads of caravans pitched there didn’t seem to be anyone around. Most of them must be seasonal pitches. It felt a bit like a ghost town! The site is on the banks of the river and we saw people fishing
The showers were reasonable but not overly clean. The showers are run by tokens which for 1 Euro gives just enough water for a short shower. However, the water was only luke warm at the best and very low water pressure. Not very enjoyable. There only seemed to be one water tap for the whole site and no one seemed to know what we meant when we asked where to empty the “grey” water. We never found a drain for this purpose. There is WIFI on site at 1 Euro per day with unlimited download so that was good. We were able to pick up Astra 2 UK Satellite programs.
We have a ACSI CC card so only paid 16 Euro per night and were given free tokens for the showers. There is a reasonably well stocked shop on site.
There is a restaurant near the entrance of the Benelux site but it wasn’t open and they didn’t seem to know much about it. Maybe we were there a bit early in the season (mid May).
La Roche town centre is only supposed to be 500 metres from the site but it is certainly much further than that. It is around 15 minutes walk from the main Benelux entrance and longer than that from the entrance of the Le Grillon site. In fact you wouldn’t really want to walk down that narrow road from Le Grillon. We drove the car down to the main entrance and parked it in the car park there and walked into town from there. La Roche is quite a pretty town but we didn’t see it at it’s best. We were there for 5 nights and the weather was wet and miserable so there was hardly anyone around. I’m sure during nice weather it would be totally different. There are loads of restaurants and cafes in town but not much happening there on wet and rainy nights!
Our overall impression of the site is that it is a bit run down. It’s OK if you want to visit La Roche but I don’t think we would be in a hurry to return again.
