We stopped at this site to break our journey south through France. Unfortunately, we arrived on a very wet day and the site was pretty waterlogged. A nice site with good size pitches.
We had a hard standing for the caravan but had to park the car on another pitch due to the waterlogged grass. We had a comfort pitch through ACSI which was 6 amp, the water tap was next to the pitch. Grand comfort pitches have 10 amps.
There are picnic tables and barbecue areas dotted around the site. Good, clean, heated ‘sanitaire’. There is a second, new shower block near the entrance but this wasn’t fully open during our stay.
Washing up with plenty of hot water and clothes washing sinks outside under cover. Washing machine and tumble dryer available. A good play area, snack and bar with covered seating area and TV. Swimming pool was closed in low season.
WIFI is free for 2 hours after that you have to pay.
Chateau Rauzan (ruin) is a short walk from the site but was not open during our stay.
We visited Bordeaux and used the tram, park and ride. The owners are very nice and helpful.

Beautiful family run site, set below ruined castle, hedged pitches with lots of trees for shade, lots of birdsong and butterflies.
Short but steep walk up to the village to bakery, shops and pizzeria. Small shop, bar and cafe at campsite with pleasant covered outdoor seating area and TV.
The outdoor pool is fab, big and sparkling clean (brand new liner apparently), amazing views from the pool up to the castle. Lots of quiet local roads for cycling, some stunning villages and small ancient churches.
Another great local attraction in the village is the Grotto de Celestine - a natural limestone cave with rock formations that you can visit, reservations required and can be made at the tourist office by the castle.

We camped at this pleasant site for 11 nights, during some very hot weather. It is located about 20 mins from the lovely St Emilion, in very pretty vine covered countryside, and about an hour from Bordeaux. Our pitch was large, unshaded (at our request, but there are mostly shaded pitches) and fit our Robens Klondike, large tarp, & car with room to spare, with adjacent ehu and water tap. The pitch was a little uneven, but not excessively, and reasonably well demarcated by a mix of young and mature hedging.
There is a small shop, cafe & bar as part of reception, and a very nice open air pool, shaded in the mornings by tall, nearby trees. The site is a few minutes walk from Rauzan which has a couple of bakeries, a small supermarket & a pharmacist, via a footpath around the medieval castle (built by our very own King John).
The unisex facilities are cleaned twice daily and throughout much of our stay were fine, if a little cramped, but once the site was full, maybe 3 or 4 nights of our stay, just totally inadequate, being crowded and becoming a bit unpleasant very quickly. This really lets the site down. 5 showers, 4 wc ‘s and 2 urinals for about 50 family occupied pitches. Very simply, more are needed.
We had a great holiday here, and would highly recommend it - if you plan to visit when it’s not full, or with your own facilities in tow.
PS A friend rented one of the newer statics for a few nights whilst we were here, and that was really quite nice

We spent four nights at Rauzan to explore Bordeaux and the surrounding countryside. It's quite a small site and very peaceful, pretty countryside around although obviously mainly vineyards! When you arrive you are asked to park up outside and walk to reception - this is for good reason as the area around reception is pretty tight - we saw one camper drive into a tree trying to get out! We were given a choice of pitches although several were out of action because of the recent flooding. There's plenty of shade although the mature trees need a bit of negotiating round with a caravan. Lots of bushes and hedges between pitches give a good feeling of privacy; there is some road noise at times. The young owners are extremely friendly and helpful and speak good English; in high season there is a snack bar alongside the bar, and there is a large marquee with a TV in it, some pleasant evenings were spent watching the football. Wifi is free but limited to 9am to 10pm. There's a nice pool with a jacuzzi that you can book for your personal use FOC, kids' play area and free loan of sports equipment such as table tennis bats. Sanitaires are nice and clean but broadly unisex, so you have to remember not to wander out of the shower to the sink or loo (all facilities are in together) in your knickers! They are also a bit limited so suspect there may be queues in high season.
One of the site's USPs the ruined chateau that it sits below - it really makes a lovely setting and you have access via the chateau grounds or a sightly less steep lane to the village where there are various shops including two boulangeries and a couple of bar/cafes.
There's a big supermarket at Branne which is a nice 15 min drive away and a smaller one in the village. It's handy for St Emilion and some pretty villages along the Dordogne river, and of course lots of vineyards. It took us about an hour to drive into the centre of Bordeaux, but don't bother with the park and ride unless you are going early - both of the ones that we tried were full at 10am.

We visited this site in order to explore St Emilion which is a 10-15 minute drive away. It is a small site tucked away in a valley immediately north of Rauzan and at the foot of the old chateau. Pitches are a reasonable size grassed and clearly delineated by trees/sparse hedges. Electric connections needs a two pin adapter and we found correct wiring, reverse polarity and line and earn reversed all on the one stanchion- so be careful. Sanitaires are next to reception and clean but there are only 6 showers. The couple are new owners, having taken over three years ago. There is a pool in season and a kids' play area, table tennis and sport field with goals and nets, wifi for free by the office and pool. The reception in corporates a small bar and some essentials but the village is a 10 minute walk up by the side of the chateau and there was a butters, small supermarket and a couple of boulangeries.
ACSI accepted. Owners are pleasant and helpful. Site was about half full when we stayed and some pitches were marked off limits and seemed to be being allowed to recover from some earlier poor weather. Approach via the D123 if possible - some units might find a turn in the village a bit tight.

A lovely little campsite. We stayed here for four nights and found it a relaxing and happy place.
It's quite hidden away in a small town so is quiet. The site is very attractive due to its setting underneath an old castle (hence the name) and with a small river running past it. Pitches were generous and clearly designated with quite a bit of shade. There was a bar on site that offered a small selection of meals, including a very popular moules frites night. There is a good pool and children's play area too.
Toilet and shower blocks were decent. A bit dated but clean and functional.
It is a very good value for money campsite and I would recommend it as a pleasant place to stay.
