Date of Visit: July 2021 Unit:  Campervan
Nights stayed: 4 Travelling as:  Retired couple

Covid hygiene rules were not met and we felt extremely unsafe throughout our four night stay. Covid safe rules were not followed as was stated on our SWLakes Ltd invoice. We should have paid for just one night and then moved on, but to reduce social contact we had paid for all four nights - that's a lesson learnt.

We had to sanitise everything we touched before and after we used the washroom facilities, both male and female, with our own products. All washroom facilities were left dirty, even after they had apparently been cleaned.

Just a few of the many problems were - faeces on toilet bowl and seat for 3 days, sanitary products on floor, floor dirty, bins inside and out were full and overflowing for 3 days, no hand gel outside each block, no sanitiser until I complained and no enforcement to follow the Covid rules.

There are also insufficient toilet facilities for busy days when there are many many people including private groups, using the lake. After we reported our concerns regarding hygiene to both the campsite warden and the site staff, there was no improvement. Shame on you! The larger newer shower / toilet block was locked at night and not available for use by campsite clients.

Roadford lake does not deliver its three stars. The camping pitches are situated in three areas - alongside the boat park, on a separate field and another behind which included hard standings. Pitches had long grass, overgrown hedges and the whole site including washroom facilities are neglected.

Roadford lake is focused on delivering lake activities to large groups and individuals and is used by many water sport enthusiasts including sailing. However, the campsite comes at the bottom of the list.

Pitches were overgrown and neglected. Some electric hook ups were unsafe. For location it is amazing. Remember when you visit, to keep yourself safe, take your own sanitising products.

Only book for one night, then judge for yourself, as the cleanliness of facilities has been very poor for many many years, as we have since discovered from reading old reviews and talking to other campsite users.

I've camped here for a weekend every year for the last few years. It's a group of junior sailors and we book their group field for sole occupancy. This field has no hook ups, but it is direct onto the lake.

Public camping area flat and well divided. Facilities a bit dated but more than adequate.

Great for a watersports weekend, although the launch fees are pricey. Also handy for a stopover as only 5 mins from A30.

Fairly isolated position so bring everything you need with you, it's a bit of a drive to get provisions.
