Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.
We chose this site from the ACSI book as we were looking for a place not too far from Aix-en-Provence. The site was easy to find, situated in a wooded area just off a main road, and about 1k from the small town of Lambesc.
The site is on a hillside so some of the pitches are on a slope, but plenty are not. There are lots of touring pitches and chalets too.
When we arrived at the barrier (need a card to get through), the reception was closed, with a sign saying they were on the site working on a chalet. We found the pleasant young warden, she let us through, and asked us to choose a pitch, she came round later to see where we were and to book us in. She gave us a map of the site.
The top of the site, where you come in, has a track behind which leads to farms and stables, and does have some traffic. The bottom of the site looks out over farmland and is very peaceful. However the irregular position of the pitches, plus the trees, makes it difficult to choose somewhere suitable. Most of the pitches are shady.
There is a bar/restaurant behind reception, this was closed when we were there, as was the outdoor pool. There is a playground for small children. You can walk along the tracks through the woods, nice for dogs.
The sanitary block is mixed, toilets round the back and showers at the front, cleaned each day. Washing up and laundry in a separate room at the side. Shower water was nice and hot, washing up was a bit hit and miss. Also a campervan service area.
We cycled into town on the main road, there is a cycle path in parts, but the road is quite busy.
The town has shops and some interesting buildings.
On the main road, about halfway into town, is the bus stop for Aix en Provence. The warden gave us a timetable, the buses run about one an hour, and it takes about 40 mins. The price is 1 euro each way! Pay the driver. Aix is a pleasant large town with lots to see and plenty of shopping and eating opportunity.
We enjoyed our stay here and would use the site again if we were passing.
