We found this site after driving through Erquy and chose it as we could see we could walk back into town without driving. The small town has a couple of fishmongers a traditional butcher and bakers, there are also places to eat in the port area but this part wasn’t fully open for the summer when we were there. You can also walk to a beach from this site (400m).
This is “Yelloh! Village” camp site and although we knew it may be expensive, we were hoping it would be similar to the site we had stayed at earlier in our holiday at Carantec. Yes it has a large pool area, an indoor pool and other facilities you would expect from a site of this size – including loo seats, soap and paper towels – however, the camping areas seem to be a little neglected, we think it looks like they are going over to permanent accommodation. The toilet/shower blocks are quite dated, one has avocado sanitary ware and dark wall tiles, looks like they haven’t been updated properly since the early 80’s, although relatively clean.
We drove around the touring pitches several times until we found somewhere we were happy with, the site was not particularly crowded. You also have to drive over a kerb to get onto the pitch, which is risky for us as we have our tank taps underneath our camper van. The touring pitches are set out amongst pine trees, which is OK…. But the pitches aren’t all level and it’s quite shady in places –not ideal if the weather is cold and blowy!
We were also a little disappointed with Erquy, much of the town doesn’t open until 15th June and we were there a few days before and it had quite a wintery feel. There is a decent circular walk (say 3 to 4 hours) from the site around the coast path.
On our second night we found there were newer toilets/showers in the swimming pool area, but they could have been cleaner and the water could have been hotter. To be honest we were a bit disappointed with this site. We paid 38, 20 euros for 2 nights with EHU.
