We'd heard good things about this site and so diverted a bit to visit it - frankly we were not that impressed. On the good side the pitches were fine - hard standing with water and electrics. The restaurant was great - good food, good welcome, good staff.
However the site 'welcome' was almost non-existent (though we understand the owners were away). The facilities really needed some money spending on them with cracked tiles and badly repaired paths (the water was hot though). Duras was ok though I personally wouldn't spend a lot of time there. Maybe as a base for ranging widely it would be ok.

This is a lovely quiet and relaxing camp site with some privately owned chalets on part of the site, also some to rent out. Plenty of room for you to choose hard standing grassed area or pitches in the trees. There is a lovely meadow walk around the edge of the site ideal for a stroll in an evening. The toilets and showers are old but kept to a very high standard and always plenty of hot water available. There is a washing machine and iron by reception. The swimming pool is small but ideal to have a dip to cool off in the heat of this lovely area. If you want camping in a busy place with lots of facilities and entertainment this site is not for you.
The site has a good restaurant, used by the locals as well as the camp site, open lunch time and evenings. We spent many evenings in the friendly atmosphere of the family run restaurant. Wi-fi is available at all times in this area.
Duras is a lovely busy little Village with its own character. Whilst we were there two evening markets and one morning one was held, worth sitting in a bar watching the world go by. A supermarket is a 15 minute walk up the hill into the village as well as a patisserie, there is a large car park in the village if you wish to take the car. There are many things to do in the surrounding area so we will be returning to this site another year as we found ourselves walking or cycling up to the village or relaxing on our pitch and not venturing very far.
This is a little gem of a site well worth a visit.
Thanks Peter & Elaine
