Great campsite alongside the river. Lovely bar/ restaurant area.

Toilet/ Shower facilities were of a high standard.

Good bike path into town follows river and through a park.

Friendly family owned site.

Would stay again

Warm welcome at this riverside site.

Excellent facilities.

Mainly flat pitches with ehu and water near each.

Popular restaurant with reasonably priced meals.

Hourly bus service into the lovely town of Bamberg.

Bread available.

I stayed here twice in June 2017 - one night on the way to Czech Republic and two nights on the way back. We only had a small tent, so could camp right on the river bank - which was very pleasant. I found the site to be very nice, it is sheltered, and in a rural setting. From my riverside pitch I could barely hear the road, just ducks and the odd canoe or rowing boat. The new shower/toilet block is great, with hot free showers and all kept very clean. There is a small restaurant cum bar on site which serves good meals, and also the local rauch (smoked) beer - a must try. Another great feature is the bus stop right outside the camp, with a fairly regular service into the pretty town of Bamberg - a must see if you are in the area.

We planned to stay a couple of nights as part of a much larger tour of Europe, but in the end 1 night was sufficient for visiting Bamberg.

The site is very handy for the town, with a bus-stop outside or options to either cycle or take the car.

Site entrance is very tight for large outfits with staggered trees creating a tight chicane at the entrance. We found a large spot to park but when we returned we were surrounded by tents and other vans. With no marked pitches and no direction from staff it should have been expected. Electricity cables cross everywhere and you take your own readings. (Note above about lacking supervision).

The toilet block was only 1 year old and very nice, except on the 2 occasions we used them, the showers were cold.

For UK caravanners with Aquarolls beware that the only water points are at the toilet block which is approached by a steep ramp.

The site is sandwiched between a river and road. Traffic started at about 6AM.

We stayed on this site for 5 nights in July 2014 in a tent with our 2 dogs. The site is well placed for visiting the lovely town of Bamberg and is right on the river bank. There are no marked pitches so you can camp wherever you want. This is fine but over the weekend, the owners did seem to squeeze a lot of tents / caravans on which put pressure on the facilities. Unfortunately the hot water to one of the shower blocks then failed. This particular shower block is very dated and the showers when they were working were very difficult to regulate the temperature. The other shower block is superb. There are also a number of static vans on the site which have clearly not been used for a long time and are in a bit of a state. The site has wifi and costs 4. 95 euros for 24 hours. Unfortunately you can't log in and out so it is in effect 4. 95 euros per day which is the most expensive wifi we have ever come across on campsites in Europe. A visit to the Seehof Castle is really worthwhile. It's free to access the grounds and to view the fountains and 4 euros to tour the house. Dogs are allowed in the grounds but not in the house. The river cruise from Bamberg centre is absolutely average but the town is lovely with some really nice cafés and bars.

Intended to stay for 3 nights but stayed for 5 because the weather was so good!

Site is located approx' 4 miles from Bamberg Alstad; (10 minutes drive or 20 minutes cycle along the direct, riverside path).

Pitches are unmarked and mostly grassed and flat with mixed sun/shade.

There are some statics but the site caters mostly for touring 'vans and motorhomes; the tent area is located along a thin strip of land on the river bank and with one access path/road/ramp feels like an afterthought. It is unlikely that you will be able to park your car next to your tent.

On a positive note if you do use the tent area the river will be on your doorstep and makes excellent swimming pool. Be aware of the potential danger with young children.

Two toilet blocks. The new, larger block next to the entrance has been fitted to an excellent standard. Smaller, older block still in good order, both kept spotless.

Snack bar/beer garden serving reasonably priced food and drinks; lovely riverside terrace.

Price: approx' 20 Euros per-night for 2 people, car and tent.

Beergarden in Pettstadt ( Thurs-Sun evenings; 10 minutes cycle) recommended!

Good area for three/four days cycling/site-seeing.
