Well the good side is that we had a pitch very close to the sea, facing it, and that is what we wanted. We were charged €23 as we didn't want electricity, but we nearly got charged double as the boy got muddled, but all's well etc and that's a normal price for Ireland. Yes, they charge €5 for each toilet key and €10 for the barrier key but this is refunded when you leave. As has been said, they do only take cash, even for the deposit on the keys, so make sure you have that handy ! On the downside, they failed to mention that the toilet block nearest to us was closed and the other one was at the far end of the site, and the showers etc do not use euros but tokens which, having trundled down to the block one, meant another trip back to get tokens. To be fair, the site was clean and tidy and the beach was 2 mins walk and almost empty, though I expect it will be busy in the school holidays. It is about 5km from Dungarvan itself, but that didn't bother us.

This site has banks of statics but is next to the beach and has adequate hook-ups, a couple of dated toilet blocks and showers, a motorhome service point and places for kids to play.

HOWEVER, in all my years of using campsites(I'm 67)I've never felt so thoroughly fleeced.

Firstly, all payments must be in cash and no receipts are offered. I wonder why.

Then: we paid €27 for two people for one night, plus €4 for the hard to reach 10amp hook-up; we paid €1. 50 per 6-minute shower in a block with only 3 showers which stopped working during our stay; and we were expected to buy more tokens just to get hot water for washing-up.

We'd to pay cash deposits for toilet keys (€5 each)and a barrier key (€10).

There were rules and prohibitions galore.

I hope no-one thinks this is representative of Irish hospitality.

We stayed here for the May bank holiday. It was fairly busy. There are a lot of statics. The campsite is situated on the beach. The beach is lovely, my 3 year old loved it. There is a playground for the kids, it is a little bit dated. The toilet/shower facilities are spotless. Overall I would recommend the site for a weekend or a few days.

This site is right on a long sandy beach. Its part holiday home, part campsite which is situated at the back of the site. However there are a few pitches at the front of the site with good sea views, the only disadvantage with these is the constant flow of people walking to and from the beach.

Site is very clean, good facilities and friendly staff. There are a couple of small shops next to the site selling basics and also a hotel with bar etc. Which was ok for a drink.

There is a 7 mile cycle way that goes from the beach to the nearby town of Dungarvan.

Word of warning, on a sunny day at high tide the beach can be very full. After 1st June dogs are not allowed on the beach until after 7pm.

We stayed on a one night stop over but it would make a good base for touring the area and is very family orientated.
