On the positive the campsite is ideally situated next to Thornton reservoir, ideal for walking, cycling and bird watching.
On the negative, there was dog poo on our pitch, the space was very limited if you weren't on pitch 1, a nonchalant rat wandered over our pitch and a relentless cockerel crowed from dawn until we left.
Wouldn't stay again.

Stayed a this site while visiting family in Leicester.
Tight entrance particularly with lots of cars parked.
Pitches are small and slightly overcrowded.
The toilet is a portaloo type but was clean enough.
Small village within 5 minutes walk with two pubs, though we didn't try them.
Nice walk around the reservoir on the doorstep.
We paid £20 / night inc EHU.
TBH think we'd try somewhere different if we visited again, though would stay if it was the only choice.

Nice 5 van site. Next to reservoir with a good walk round.
Fine selection of plants at nursery.
Coffee shop on site.
We felt secure on site. Pitches were level.
Folk running things were very helpful and made us feel very welcome.
Many thanks to Dave for all his help when we were there.

This is a very poor site in all aspects. The entrance is a nightmare to negotiate and the reception is offhand.
The site itself is down a narrow path leading to a patch of scrub land. Very tight spaces and all unkempt, no attempt to make it any nicer. I don't know how it keeps its CC&M status.
If we hadnt been visiting some friends we would have driven straight out.
The only thing in its favour is the closeness to Thornton Reservoir and good dog walks.
Other wise I can say nothing good, especially when I think of some of the lovely CLs we have visited over the years

Do not follow the access instructions if you have a large tow unit or large van, the 180 degree entry turn is nearly impossible due to parked cars especially at the weekend, far better to approach through the village or go past and turn after the village and enter down the hill.
This is a fairly tight site but adequate.
Our visit was marred by lack of interest from owners and animal excrement from previous users on the grass.

This is a straightforward little CL, with water, electric, toilet disposal and a toilet (portaloo, not recommended!). It has hardstanding for all 5 pitches, with a bit of grass alongside. It's a bit like an aire in terms of spacing, so if all pitches were occupied it would be rather cosy.
We visited twice in August though and had it to ourselves both times. Should be more popular, I think, as it's next to the picturesque Thornton reservoir, and on the Leicestershire Round long distance walk, with other walks available too.
Both pubs in the village serve good food and are dog-friendly. The CL is alongside, and owned by, a garden centre with decent cafe (which unaccountably, given the amount of people walking dogs around the reservoir, doesn't allow pooches inside). Theres an hourly bus service for further exploring.

A small compact site which was a convenient stopover on our way up North. The site is attached to a plant nursery and the owner was very welcoming.
There are no views from the site and the toilet facility is in fact a portaloo. Across the road from the nursery is the reservoir which has a walk all the way around it.
We didn't do the whole circuit but the part we did walk was very pleasant.
The cost per night was £15 with EHU.
