Lovely site. The pitches were level, large and immaculately maintained
The grass was manicured to perfection, as was the surrounding hedgerows /trees.
Very, very distant hum from the A19 but the birdsong masked this well! Facilities were optional for a small extra charge. Accessed with key provided by owners.
Basic but functional single bathroom, shared by two pitches only, on request.
The owners of this site were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them. Very friendly and helpful.
Really enjoyed our stay and will be returning.
Have already recommended to several friends.

Loved the campsite, neat & tidy but spacious and quiet, just how we like it. Grassed areas kept well mown, easy access, made to feel welcome.
One little surprise. This was our first visit to the campsite & we booked it via UK campsite. Co. Uk. We searched the ukcampsite sites using our usual criteria, touring caravan, electric hook-up, dogs allowed, toilet.
South Newlands Farm came up, think we were offered hard standing when booking which we ticked, then got an nice email from Peggy saying our 4 nights were available. Sorted, magic.
One slight problem arose after we'd pitched, only two caravans (or tents) were allowed to use the toilet / shower. And we hadn't specifically booked that.
We always use our own shower so no problem there but we tend to use our caravan toilet for wees only. Unless emergency. Had we looked at the South Newlands Farm website we'd have discovered this and booked the toilet.
Whilst there we thought that more than two units could have used the facilities. 4 or 5 maybe. Nevertheless, we loved the site & it's location & will visit again, but will be sure to book the toilet too.
Peggy told us about the lovely walks in Skipworth woods - marvellous, we also enjoyed visits to Selby & York.

Friendly welcome from Peggy and Rod. This is a beautifully kept site with large level hardstanding or grass pitches with ehu.
For £2 a night extra two units could have the use of toilet and shower facilities which were very good.
Adult only site meant peace and quiet. This is an excellent base for cycling. Well stocked shop approx. 1 mile away. Village cafe/deli.
Would highly recommend this excellent site.

This is an excellent, sheltered campsite which is well maintained and with plenty of space for each unit. The owners are extremely friendly and helpful.
A variety of birds visit the site and are interesting to watch; this shows how quiet the site is. There are minimal facilities and these were closed due to Covid. We were happy with the campsite tariff.
There is a shop in the nearby village which has adequate supplies. Nearby Skipwith Common is worth a visit if you enjoy a walk; there are horses, cattle and sheep roaming around as well as wildlife and pondlife. York and Selby are within easy driving distance.

Can’t wait to visit this site again. The hosts are a lovely couple and make your stay a pleasure. The area is brilliant for cycling the trans penine cycle route. The food at The Blacksmiths Arm is worth the slight detour.
Despite restrictions due to the pandemic Peggy and Rod went out of their way to help us out with showers as it was such hot weather we were desperate especially after cycling.
Riccall is a pleasant little village with a handy little shop that had everything you’d need. The bus service from Selby to York is absolutely supurb and we made good use of that.
All in all a really good place to stay.

A lovely site handy for York / Selby.
Toilets available as. Well as a toilet/shower block for which there is an additional charge.
We ate in the Black bull at Escrigg which was good.
Great welcome from the hosts who then left us alone to enjoy the place

Just returned from a 2 night stay at Southland's farm, a last minute booking, a real gem,
Owners lovely site clean and tidy use of shower with lots of hot water tiny bit of road noise from A19 but not enough to disturb you great for cycling into York and Selby.
We will return. I only gave 1 put of 10 for child friendly as I think its an adult only site. Sorry if I'm wrong about that.
