july 2000 Unlike Suzanne Jones, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cassington Mill, we had a riverside pitch and are quite used to the costs and pitch sizes offered. We used the site as a base for visiting many different places in the surrounding area, even a trip on the train down to London and a visit to Legoland (having travelled down from Scotland you don't limit yourself to the immediate area). I personally have recommended this site to others travelling into this area.

Visited Cassington Mill Site for a weekend recently. The site itself is very nice but, in my opinion, is spoilt by the fact that the caravans on the river frontage have such small pitches and are just sardined together, so much so that you cannot see the water and your view of everything else is obscured. I have a frame tent and, to my mind, the pitch we were allocated was a bit of a squeeze.
The site is very picturesque and, having walked round it, it seemed that the pitches that had been allocated to everyone were the worst pitches with the best pitches down towards the Mill House were largely unused!
There are boats for hire on site and there is a shop open from 9.00 am until 9.00 pm. There is a good bus service that runs past the road to the site and we got the bus and went to nearby Eynsham one evening for a drink. The buses run until 3.40 am in the morning so if you want a night out in Oxford you should be able to get back OK!
The toilet facilities were for the most part very clean but not up to the standard I would really expect for £11.00 per night.
The nearby A40 is absolutely insane. There are no speed limit signs but there are cameras! Beware. We travelled backwards and forwards on it during the weekend and went about 20 miles down it and there are definitely no speed limit signs. Also, the lights at the junction to get into the site are completely mad. The road to the site is on a right-hand filter and you get no time at all to get through the traffic as there is just streams and streams of it.
I was advised by a fellow camper that if I was going to go into Oxford to beware because he had gone in that day and had got a ticket from the machine at the car park and it had cost him £8.00 to park. Visit the Cotswold towns and villages instead as many have free parking.
All in all I had a really good weekend but, whilst the site was OK, I think there are probably better ones in Oxfordshire.
