Had a wonderful long weekend here as a group of 6 families including lots of children and dogs.
We had a huge pitch to ourselves, barely in view of any other campers, our own compost toilets hidden in the woods and our own fire pit.
Showers were hot and powerful, far side of the field from our pitch and the only place we saw other campers.
Plenty of space to play rounders and set up our tennis net and a little wood area with stream that the children loved climbing in.
Hosts were delightful - highly recommend.

Wimbles provides the perfect setting for camping. Wide open spaces, beautiful pitches and a feeling of being immersed in nature.
The pitches are spaced apart enough so that you feel as though you have your own space and the grounds are just stunning.
We loved watching the bats at twilight and dipping in the river in the heat of the day.

Beautiful setting for a campsite. The pitches vary in size from single tents to groups and are all well separated by hedges or wildflower meadows. Each comes with their own firepit and composting toilet of varying build quality - be careful not to bang your head on the door frame when you exit!
You will need to buy wood because the only way of getting hot water is to heat it over the fire. There are no washing up facilities or showers (the solar shower is an interesting but Heath Robinson affair).
The Brewers Arms at Vines Cross is less than a mile's walk away and the food is recommended.
If you're happy to chill and leave some of your creature comforts at home, you'll have a great time here.

I can't really give a site without a proper shower full marks, but this is a pleasant and charming eco site in a nice spot. The pitches are extraordinary well separated, and each with their own compost toilets, fire rings, and plentiful logs provided. Ours had a rustic table and bench affair, which works well, and I guess all the pitches do. It wasn't sunny enough for us to try out the 'solar shower' contraption.
It's a bit of a pull from some of the pitches to the designated car parking spots, but barrows are provided. (Tell me, when a no car policy on the camping fields is stated, & clearly signposted, why is there always one arrogant **** who thinks they have the right to ignore it?).
It's also only a short walk from the friendly Brewers Arms, and the footpaths to take you to other great pubs, and not too far from the very good Wessons cafe.
There is finally a decent successor to the fabulous but no-more Hidden Spring. Hurrah.
