Gardiesfauld is one of the common community owned, volunteer maintained, small caravan / motorhome sites, but which is also linked to the large adjacent Youth Hostel ….

It is situated right on the shore front, looking out over the bay …. , The vehicle pitches, with ehu, are concrete strips set in compacted gravel hard standings, therefore it is possible to pitch an awning ….

There is a small public toilet / shower block immediately adjacent to the pitches, however all the facilities of the Youth Hostel, including a large well equipped kitchen (with washing machine) are available to patrons of the touring pitches ….

We paid £20 per night ….

Tried to book previous week, but couldn’t make contact so just turned up! I met a really helpful man cleaning the hostel, and was then able to contact the temporary admin person. I got a space for one night and it’s an amazing spot opposite the beach.

Only 5 spaces, with a (public) toilet and shower block next door as well as the hostel facilities which are a little further away. Second night I moved onto the other side of the road, used the same facilities, and made a donation into their honesty box!

Honesty (French) cafe 50 m away was a very pleasant surprise! Not a good place for small children as they could wander onto the ( very quiet) road and there’s a rocky edge to the beach.

Perfect spot; tranquil, quiet, great views -

The toilets/showers were clean and close by.

Located near walking trails, isolated beaches and a fabulous “honesty box” self service cafe.

Really handy having youth hostel facilities kitchen etc.

Website needs updating re: price and there's no WiFi

But overall it's been lovely 👌

Idyllic: what an amazing place! Right on the waterfront and with the honesty cafe, rock shop and wet and dry seating just a few steps away.

It’s tiny (five van pitches) but beautiful.

Facilities (toilets and showers only) are spotless and well arranged.

Could have stayed a long while!

Lovely site at the waters edge with pebble beach.

Public toilet with showers, was clean & tidy. Would use again.

Hostel wasn’t open so no washing machine but wasn’t a big problem. H

Onestly boxes selling snacks at harbour, just help yourself and leave your money.

Superb location on the shore next to the lovely harbour with access to adjacent public toilets and shower.

Very clean and peaceful.

Good coastal walks from site and also nearby.

Helpful owner, although we did not meet her in person.

Lovely site and really clean facilities.

We have stayed here many times and always enjoyed the stay.

New showers have been added and the toilet facilities have been upgraded.

The site is on the waters edge and being able to watch the otters and numerous sea birds was really special

Excellent small site. Very scenic and convenient.

Facilities clean.

Close to ferry and in a good location for visiting everything else Unst has to offer.
