We spent 2 weeks here with electric hook up (which no longer appears to be an option for tents on their website). For those non EHU there are sockets in the shower block and laundry room.

We arrived in poor weather and on arrival told to pick our own pitch from those available. We first picked the largest of the 'back to back' hard standings with grass alongside but found our approx. 4m x 5. 5m tent too big for the grassed area with guy lines pegged. We had dismissed the hard standing that run alongside a grassed mound but with our tent half erected decided to investigate and found it would be more than big enough for our tent and reasonably level. I popped back into reception just to check it was ok for us to pitch there and all was good.

The toilet & shower block with dish wash area was relatively new and worked well, could do with a light at the dish wash area, extractor fans in the showers and an individual toilet as there were a couple of occasions all three showers were in use, on these occasions we just walked to reception where there is a toilet.

Hot water ran out once while there as heated by gas bottles and one of the lights in the showers died but they quickly rectified any problems. Soap isn't supplied in the shower block but is in the reception toilet.

The site does get quite busy at weekends and think the noise came from the rented tipis more so than other campers, we did have to ask one of the children staying in a tipi to stay away from our tent with her bubble gun.

Laundry facilities are £5 a wash/dry load, it is just a domestic 6kg washer (there were two but one wasn't working)and separate condenser dryer which did the job.

We used the café on our leaving day for breakfast, beer & coke we charge though the bar and seemed to be normal bar prices (1 pint & 2 cokes £5) and food was charged separately. I was a little disappointed with the breakfast as no real menu so just ordered 2x breakfasts and individual items for the children, breakfast pictured on their board outside had mushrooms however ours arrived as egg, large sausage, tomato, beans, 2x bacon & black pudding costing £5.

Would return if in the area and they allowed us to have electric again.

Went to this site as partner was playing golf in the area,

£18 per night, 2 adults, 3 kids and electric.

At the moment this site is a bit under construction on the touring area. The pitches are wide but are very close together at the back of the units. The toilet blocks are new and very nice they consist of two sinks and 3 cubicles with shower (one of the best showers we have used), sink and toilet combined (with mop now in), it was not very busy when we were there, so had no problems waiting, but can see problems when busy. There is one sink on the side of the toilet block for washing up. There are 3 wigwams and 3 shed like accommodation done up in a cowboy theme to rent.

The rest of the site looks very nice and the impressive alpine looking bar/reception serves food (which we did not try), has a pool table and had entertainment on the Saturday night when we were there (we did not go though), did not see the gym/hot tubs, so can not comment on them, there is a football area. The campsite was quite enough when we were there, so maybe previous review may just have been unlucky with other noisy campers. The campsite is central for visiting lots of places in the surrounding area as just being of the A1. Would I go back, once building work was finished and if need to be in the area again yes as it served its purpose for us.

Just returned from a long waster Easter weekend break in Northumberland. Our first family visit and loved the area. Unfortunately the site we booked wasn't so good. Maybe alarm bells should have rang because most sites seemed to be fully booked when we were searching, but this place is new and the touring area only opened Oct13 so we thought we would give it a go.

Pitches seemed to be too close together, with vans only been a few feet from each other at times. The hard standings were actually concrete covered in smashed up Tarmac. Hence our awning rock pegs would not go in! The facilities had just been finished but with just 3 unisex combined toilet/shower cubicles you had to be prepared for a wait.

A large group of campers arrived and pitched their tents together. I can only say they seemed to be a group of 'travellers'. Large open fires, mountains of rubbish was dumped at the site. Dogs running round off lead and fouling everywhere. Non stop shouting and swearing etc etc.

There were a number of parties that had rented the on site tippee's. They seemed to like playing music at loud levels from their cars until late at night.

Location wise it was ideal for exploring. Unfortunately we only saw a young teenage girl at check in time, no one seen cleaning the facilities or checking on the site at all. My wife did bump into a lady at one point who was heading to the facilities with some fresh tissue supplies and and she mentioned it would be good to have some mops so people could at least clean down after using the showers. She said what a good idea. 3 days later though still no sign of mops!

It was the worst site we have stayed at. It basically seemed there were no rules. If they had existed there was no one around to enforce them! By the end of the weekend toilets and showers were broken with seats or shower control knobs missing. Would have given the feedback in a constructive manner had we seen anyone to give it to.

I discovered this site from during a organised fishing match there.

The site has just branched out for touring caravans and tents. As it was all lux log cabins etc.

The site has a nice log bar pub. Which also does a small selection of nice meals. We tried the pizza, which was very good.

Also has a very modern gym and massive hot tub. Where you can get drinks brought to you.

As the site does not have proper toilet block as such yet. You can use the Gym toilet and posh shower.

On site there is also a small kids play area. Which could do with being a bit bigger. A excellent dog walking area.

Within 1. 5 miles is a lovely farm park. Plus loads more to do within driving distance.

The Pitch was only £18 all in, for a hard standing.

The staff are very friendly and even let me collect the caravan at 5 pm for no extra cost. As the site was not busy.

Will be visiting again very soon.
