We are here for 4 nights as we slowly meander our way down the coast to Cadiz for winter. Our immediate impression is that this site is as big as a small town, which is not to our taste, as we prefer the smaller sites that have more character and intimacy.

I need to be careful, however, when I pass judgement on this site, as although not to our taste it has every facility and convenience you could wish for and all very well maintained and clean with 16A, water and drainage on the pitch. The vans and motorhomes appear to be packed together in a regimented layout similar to a car park, but close proximity to other vans has proved not to be the nuisance we initially thought it would be.

Everything on site is modern, from the reception area suitable for a four star hotel, to the bars, restaurants, swimming pools, sports facilities and small supermarket. Ablution facilities are first class, heated and have copious amounts of hot water in the showers with no button pushing or extra charge. Paper and toilet seats are provided.

As we were only staying for a few nights we were allocated one of the standard pitches at 90m2, which, although there was no spare room on the pitch it was sufficient for our 8 metre caravan, porch awning and car. Access to the wide pitch no problem from the tarmacadam roads that run all over the site. The site is so big it even has several roundabouts and a one way system. There are far bigger pitches available but I'd imagine you'd have to book ahead. Several of these had 40 foot, 6 wheeler motorhomes and 5th wheelers.

There is road noise from the adjacent motorway but not sufficient to cause a problem. There are also separate pitch areas for those campers that have dogs, so there's no incessant barking when you're wanting to sleep, which can be so common with Spanish sites.

We would stay here again if only to have all the on-pitch facilities for 23. 40 euros/night. We particularly enjoyed exploring the hills and isolated villages inland from the camp.

Lovely site with mountain views. Excellent clean facilities. Loads of activities. Fantastic pools and spa. Good bar and restaurant Great to spend the winter here and the longer you stay the cheaper it gets.

Definitely one of the best campsites we have come across in spain, well managed, wonderful pitches, great washrooms and all the facilities of a 5 star hotel - spa, restaurants, etc-the little town is a 10 minute stroll and is delightful -the one and only bar / restaurant serves the best tapas I ate on our whole trip ! -easy access off the AP7 - will fit the largest of units -ours is 9. 5 metres and there are plenty of R. V, s on the site, as pitches are generous and well spread out - slight road noise one night when wind direction changed, but not huge amount - this campsite will spoil you for other spanish sites !-the sunsets are incredible ! cannot wait to return !

We are in process of over wintering long term at Marjal and can absolutely endorse the previous review. This is a very large site run by very efficient and friendly management. We have hired a car through the site but find that there is so much to get involved in here that days pass without using it. The indoor swimming pool, spa, bar, mini golf, boules, line. Latin. Ballroom dance lessons, Spanish lessons, tennis, bike hire, car boot and special markets all add interest to our stay. Busses are laid on to local markets and other seasonal activities occur. Cleanliness is the order of the day together with friendly English speaking staff. Local villages are reachable by bikes and the coast is about 20 mins away. We now have fibre broadband to the pitch for about 22 euros per month together with free BBC/ITV. Pitches are grey gravel and although large, people make full use of the space so you can appear to be packed in. There is a no dogs pitch area and dogs are loosing the old huge dog walking area as that part of site is being developed with the addition of a second outdoor pool. A new dog walk is on the cards. All in all this site has a lot going for it and we will be back even though we like smaller rural sites generally.

We absolutely loved this site. When we first arrived we were a bit put off by the sheer size of it and the fact that the pitches were rather grey looking with only a little greenery between each one but from the first evening we just fell for the place. Fantastic amount of activities available, great range for all ages and interests, fully serviced pitches and the most beautifully kept and efficient showers and toilets ever. There is also a dog grooming room in each of the shower blocks - yes really! It includes a specially raised dog bath with shower, a raised grooming area and a dog hair dryer. There is even a ramp for a large dog to walk up to the bath.

Truly beautiful outdoor pool open all year and an excellent indoor pool and spa with gym (extra cost for this). We didn't use the indoor pool as it was warm enough to swim outside but our neighbours told us that the spa and gym were excellent.

You can pitch near the centre, which tends to be noisier, or ask for a pitch further away which will be quieter.

We used our bikes a lot as you can cycle to several local small towns. Catral, the nearest one, is less than 2 miles away and an easy bike ride, although you do have to cycle over a motorway bridge, which got easier as the week went on. There is a fabulous market there on a Saturday and some good shops and eateries. We enjoyed the British owned café (Café Uno) for coffee and toasted teacakes a couple of mornings.

There is a supermarket on site that is pretty good plus other facilities such as a hairdresser. Bar and restaurant not bad at all although it gets busy and can take a while to get served. We intended to stay for 3 nights and ended up there for 10 - didn't want to leave even then.

Thoroughly recommended for all age groups - tempting prices for a long winter stay.
