Liked: Views, closeness to town, space, trees, staff helpfulness. Very affordable.
Disliked: military-style wash blocks with very open shower and wc positions, no heating, lack of hot water in showers, no soap in sinks, very poor food in on-site cafe, leaf litter everywhere.
Extreme road noise, although quiet 12 - 0600. Biker convention close by, boy racer territory. Searched for more remote site. Don't bother.

We stayed for 1 night as a stopover on this pleasant campsite located within easy reach of the main road in a nice location close to the town of Avignon and its river.
Pitches were a bit tight for our large twin axle but we managed. The pool was clean and well maintained although somewhat lacking in sun loungers! Staff were friendly.
The bar area was very pleasant although drinks quite pricey. The kids enjoyed freshly cooked waffles and crepes while the adults had cocktails! Wash facilities were average. We didn't really have time to investigate the other facilities.
Would return again.

We came across this site by accident many years ago after being rained out of Annecy and booked in for just over a week, simply happy to dry off.
We have returned every year since, spending two or three nights here.
As mentioned above, the site/facilities are a little tired but everything is cleaned regularly, (The feel of this site adds to the 'Frenchness' in my view which is a positive).
The pool is better than basic, there is a very well stocked shop with fresh bread etc every morning. The restaurant/bar, which is next to the pool serves basic but good food and the staff are pleasant and helpful.
The best touring pitches are the ones nearest to, and facing the river/town. The main reason for our return each year however is the sites location.
The site is situated on an island in the Rhone river and there are miles of flat, quiet lanes for cycling/walking direct from the site entrance.
The town can be reached either by a small, free, ferry which runs all day, 5 mins walk, or a 10 minute walk over the road bridge. Avignon is a belter and by far our favourite foreign town.
The surrounding area is packed with history and natural wonders with the waterpark at Carpentras a favourite with the kids.
We were to return in 2020 but events prevented us but we will be back.

We had looked at the site a couple of years ago when the young couple moved in. The site was very run down and less than half was in use. Little has changed in the intervening period.
The pitches are of average size and well shaded, but bizarrely there is a steep kerb onto everyone of them which can play havoc with motor movers.
The two sanitaire blocks have seen better days and there is even tepid water in one of the showers!. There is an on site shop and bar/restaurant which we didn't use, but they seemed well patronised.
The reception has a computer that is free to use and the wifi is also free.
The family running the site are extremely helpful and willing to do anything to help from phoning up local shops for you, sorting out bus timetables and even telling you where to get the cheapest wine.
A free ferry runs from the island just outside the campsite, or you can walk into the centre in about 25 minutes.
There is good, safe cycling on the island.
The site will possibly improve when they can increase the level of investment. For effort and friendliness they deserve to succeed, but there is a long way to go and many better sites in the area.

Site was easy to find and about a 20 min walk to Avignon over the bridge. The Reception staff spoke good English. Wifi was free but only available near reception. There were tennis courts and a swimming pool. There was an Aire just down the road which looked very clean and tidy. There was also a free shuttle to take you across the river but it wasn't running when we were there so I assume it is seasonable. Will definitely stay here again.

One of three campsites on the Island of la Barthelasse opposite the Palais des Papes over the River Rhone. There is a regular free ferry about ten minutes walk in one direction and a twenty minute walk over the bridge in the other direction. Do not be tempted to drive in to old Avignon!
The site is flat, quite large and busy with small-medium grass plots separated by trees and hedges. Toilet blocks fine (not gender segregated). Fully separated refuse collection facilities.
Lovely, multilingual office staff; reasonable (size and prices) shop with bar and restaurant (reasonable quality food but not a lot of variety - mainly beef things) close to a simple, sizeable pool. Tennis, volley-ball and other sports facilities.
Very multinational clientèle, all very well behaved (although drive slowly, there was a tendency to let children play on the roads!).
The camp itself was quiet at night except for music from another campsite and, one night, some idiot motor-cyclists doing speed trials on adjacent road. Ear-plugs were sometimes necessary but that has become a general problem for me.
Avignon is a reasonable centre for touring - Orange is close, Arles about 20 miles away &c. The town itself has to be seen and the tour around the Palais des Papes is a must do. There are lots of museums and galleries of which the Angladon Museum is the best for lovers of post-Impressionist art. Restaurants in the old town are numerous but not cheap; two Flunches are on the outskirts of town.
