The site is lovely, most of the staff are friendly. We also store our caravan on the site.
My main concern is that there is an older man that answers the phone, he uses bad language and tells us how bad our caravan is. He has made me feel awkward about even coming to the site, which is a shame because it is a lovely place to come to.
Like I say, most of the staff are lovely and the site is in an ideal position for visiting the beautiful Devon countryside.

Very helpful staff and close to all points in Plymouth. We stayed 2 nights due to a charity event in the city.
Nice clean showers and toilets and everything you need. The next door pub does not do food at the weekend but the chip shop in Plymton is amazing the onion rings are a meal on their own.

Booked in here for a 2 night stay as it was nearest site for visiting our friends. Nice hard standing pitch, with EHU. Toilet facilities were excellent, very clean, warm showers, push button type. The site does look as if it is mainly used as seasonal pitches with just a few left for other use.
There is some road noise from the nearby A38, but it was not really a problem as we were out most of the time.

It is very wet in Devon at the moment so the grassed areas are out of bounds.
Plenty of hard stand pitches though, the facilities are good, very nice & tidy.
The people are all friendly and the site is very quiet.
The staff are very helpful, very easy going and accommodating.
The small pub on site is good fun and the hotel bar next door is very nice with a good food menu.
Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable stay at Smithaleigh given the weather we have just encountered.

Just got back from a fantastic week in Devon. Stayed at the Smithaleigh site 7 nights and found the site was perfect for our needs.
The lavatories were spotless and cleaned every day. Piping hot water in the sinks and showers. Excellent laundry room complete with iron and dryers.
Pitches very good with a mixture of hard and grass standings.
1 or 2 tourers were obviously being used as permanent homes, but not a problem, unlike the usual caravan snobs that every site seems to be infested with.
All in all, a very nice site suitable for young and old, something for everyone, and certainly one to be recommended.

We had a great holiday, this is a very friendly site, and is very relaxing, clean and comfortable facilities, good for children. It is a convenient location for moors, beaches, shopping - close to supermarket. Lots of good beaches within 20-30 minutes, lovely moorland within 20-30 minutes. There are lots of tourist attractions within a short drive - on the coast, Ashburton, Plymouth and into Cornwall and onto the moors . Lots of space and a nice bar and good restaurant/pub just next door - convenient.

We stayed here for 2 nights. If we had been staying here for more than 2 nights then we would have left and looked elsewhere due to the state of the toilet block. In the mens and ladies the walls and ceilings were full of bugs and cobwebs, and at no point did we see any cleaning going on. In the ladies the plaster was coming off the ceiling and there was no soap to wash your hands or any hand towels or hand dryer.
Apart from this the rest of the site was adequate with nice pitch in a peaceful location.

Only overnight stopped here but a reasonable site. Kids playground, trampolines and Karaoke in the bar! A good start to the holidays but not the place to go for peace and quiet. A lot of the tourers seem to be Semi-resident and almost locals to the bar. Toilets clean and showers free. I just do not know if I would stay for more than a couple of nights on the way to France.
