We have just spent a week at Camping la Rochelambert and we were very happy with our stay. We are a family of four, our children being 15 & 17, and we have our own tent. The site has just the right amount of amenities & client events, but still manages to remain calm and peaceful. The shower blocks and pool area are very well maintained and were spotlessly clean at all times. I also did two aqua exercise classes with Bruno and they were great fun.
The area is breathtakingly beautiful and there are plenty of places to visit to keep everyone amused. I would not hesitate to recommend this site to anyone. We have been camping as a family for 12 years now, in the UK and across Europe, and this site has leapt up to our number one favourite!

I have very mixed feelings about this campsite. We enjoyed ourselves very much, but that was because we were the only tent in the 'natural' area down by the stream (apparently everyone else thought it was too cold down there as it was not very warm at that point). As all the other campers were above us on the hill it was lovely, peaceful and DARK. Otherwise, I don't think I would have enjoyed this campsite at all. The pitches looked very crowded together, and there were activities such as karoake which I dislike immensely. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool. There is a bar/restaurant which was really busy when we were there, so we chose to eat elsewhere (not altogether successfully: did not like the owner's recommendation!). One day I had to do some work so sat in the bar all day working on my laptop. I did buy stuff from the bar but nevertheless felt like I was not welcome, unlike the case in other campsites where I had done the same. There are very limited groceries available and BBQs are available to rent only. The weirdest part were the toilets, which despite being sit-on rather than squat variety, had no toilet seats! Being one of the more expensive sites, I do think they should provide things like soap in the washrooms. Sauna was very expensive too. Will not return to this site.

Stayed here whilst visiting Le Puy en Velay and the rest of the Haute Loire. Site is well managed and in a rural location alongside a small river. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Facilities were excellent and one block was heated which was useful as it can be quite cold in Autumn at this altitude. They had a special rate for one tent, two people and car so cheap for this type of commercial site at 14 Euros. Closes end of September - see their website. St Paulien is only 5 minutes away by car and is pleasant and has supermarket, other shops and very good boulangerie. This is an excellent area for walking, Loire valley is 30 minutes and nearby village of Allegre is worth a visit. Area is not as mountainous as other parts of Auvergne but hilly enough! Highly recommended site - why can't we have this in the UK?

This is a great site. Level spacious, pitches on a slightly terraced site. Good clean, modern toilet blocks with a bar and small shop on site. Games area for kids. Only drawback is you ave to take your chemical toilet nearly out of the site to empty and clean. Good exercise though! As a stop over going or coming from sof, or even a longer stay I would highly recommend. The local town has a supermarket and the larger town of Puy de Velay is worth a visit if just for the views. All in all a great site and not too far away from the major routes.
