Friendly campsite with amazing views and rolling hill.

Very close to Paignton and its shops and transport.

Only one shower and one toilet for men, but clean, spacious and warm. No cycle storage.

My husband and I recently visited this site after we were unable to get a pitch on the adults only site we site we usually visit in Torquay. Before booking we read the three reviews about the site, although they were old reviews they spoke favourably about the site. On arriving we were met by the previous owners son, who has taken over the site after his fathers death. He was so pleasant, friendly and helpful. The facilities are the same as mentioned in the other reviews, one toilet and shower for men and two toilets and one shower for women. The water waste and chemical facilities can be quite a distance depending on where you are pitched. These facilities were spotlessly clean and adequate.

The site has a smallish garden centre attached with a beautiful tearoom. Buses stop a couple of minutes away and go to Paignton, Torquay and other places. There is a Beefeater pub two minutes drive out of the site. The site is perfectly situated for access to so many places.

The site itself is massive and in it's glory days had a swimming pool, bar restaurant large toilet blocks and lots of other facilities. The new owner hopes to re-establish these facilities which are all still there.

In our opinion, this site is an absolute gem and can only go from strength to strength and we would recommend it to anybody. We are going back in a few weeks and will keep going back.

Had a fantastic stay at this peaceful site and will definitely return for another visit. It is a slightly odd set up with a couple of unusual features that could be seen negatively but if you can deal with them and not let them spoil your stay you will have a lovely time at this site.

The unusual features I refer to are mainly down to the fact that this is a huge site very much under utilised and is a long way off now what I would imagine were its ‘glory days’. This is due to the fact that the owners have scaled back their operation and now ‘just keep their hand in’ so to speak. And speaking personally thank goodness they have ! The owners are extremely nice people and one of them who I met and had some very pleasant conversations with, is a thoroughly top bloke who is very concerned that everything is all right for you and that you are not experiencing any problems. Having said that, because of the downsizing of their operation, the shower and toilet facilities are very limited with just one shower and one toilet cubicle for the men and one shower and two toilet cubicles for the ladies (my wife told me !). Fortunately during our stay there were only 3 other units and a tent right at the top of the field so usage of the facilities was limited and, for me, no waiting to use them. However as stated on UKCampsite.co.uk there are 60 pitches and if only half of them were occupied there could be a serious waiting time involved. Using your on-board facilities could be an option but the chemical waste disposal point is miles away, well a good ½ a mile away, so emptying your cassette is not the most convenient thing to do.

It is an adults only site and no dogs are allowed. Personally speaking, for my wife and I these are two plus points. Its close proximity to Paignton (and equidistance from Torquay and Brixham), the mainly off road cycle path into Paignton and a bus service that runs from nearby South Devon College are other plus points.

It’s a bit sad to see the reminders of what the site used to be like, e. G. An empty swimming pool, and for some keen entrepreneur this would be an absolute gem of a site, however it is still worth a visit, just take some good walking shoes with you for when you empty your toilet cassette ! I tried to cycle down holding a rather full cassette – not a good idea !

All in all a real find and definitely on the return visit list.

Great campsite plenty of space, very quiet location.

Facilities: washroom, 2 sinks, toilet, urinals shower, (men)and equivalent for women.

Showers are free :)

Wash up point undercover hot and cold water, bins.

Coin operated iron/board, hair dryer in separate room.

Electric hookups.

No farm shop, but sainsburys just on main road inc petrol station.

My conclusion, I was lucky to have visited this site, as most other places looked over flowing over crowded, so this site was a nice welcome

We will be back next year.

A little gem! After being squeezed onto three sites in the last week that were noisy and overcrowded because of the school holidays we found this one. An adult only site we arrived to find only four other units on the site. Just a few minutes drive from Paignton Centre and just off the main road the site is a peaceful oasis in the midst of all the busy Devon traffic.

The site (a larger site years ago) is really just a big field and now only caters for over 25's. It has modern, very clean facilities, 2 toilets and 1 shower with free hot water for females and the same for males. Good potwashing facilities which were covered were outside and an iron and board, hairdryer and electric point in a separate room (20p - 50p charge applies). There is no shop but Morrisons is two minutes away.

The site although sloping has level pitches at both the top and bottom of the slope. We chose to go to the top because the views up to the hills were great, a water point was up there too. There are views from the bottom of the slope and it is more sheltered. If you're going it is easier to access Long lane, where the site is from the road off South Devon College. Although the plan is to only open Aug and July it may be worth a call because the helpful friendly owner Peter is sometimes willing to open at other times. Good value at £15 per night top season (not sure if this is the same for electric pitches).

A smashing little site. We spent two days going round the zoo because we enjoyed it so much, the food was reasonable and good quality too with a carvery at £6.95 and fish and chips and lasagne for £6.50
