We love the site at Le Grand Dague, this was our second visit. This year we chose to stay on a Premium pitch with private facilities. The private facilities are indeed Premium and it was lovely to have our own shower and toilet on the pitch.
We were disappointed with the actual pitch which was extremely un-level in more than one direction, was not flat and had not been finished after the works to install the toilet (no soil or grass, just rocks and stones). I spoke to the site team and they apologised, explaining this was because the new facilities arrived months late and they only had ten days to install everything before opening. I hope they do some remedial works this winter.
Pitch access is also very narrow and I damaged my caravan on a bush.
This year's entertainment team spoke little English during the shows, unlike last year's team. Restaurant food was very nice, but limited choices and slow.
Despite these issues, we will return next year

One decent depth of swimming pool and lots of shallower pools but no attempt to make the deep pool adults or swimmers only so had to wait til late in the day when younger children had left.
Bar was chaotic and very expensive- paid less in the beautiful main square of Le Mans than in the site bar.
Main problem is that with no warning in 35’ heat near woodlands we had a circus tent pitched 2m from our wooden verandah so spent the morning listening to it being put up and the evening to it being taken down all accompanied by dust, and such a fire risk I can’t believe it was legal. It certainly wasn’t safe!

Fantastic site for touring caravans. Busy in main summer holidays, but where isn't?
Great pools for kids and adults, including flume.
Bar, with evening entertainment, pizza/burger stall and restaurant. Staff very friendly and helpful, even changed tap on my pitch so I could hook up.
Different events each day including the circus mentioned by another reviewer, market in car park weekly.
On site shop with fresh bread, obviously more expensive than local hypermarket, which is a ten minute drive.
There was an issue with hot water while we were there, but we received a 10% credit.
Everyone has their own views, but we're booked to go back this August, one of their premium pitches with private shower/toilet this year.

Stayed in a rented Roan static for Whit week.
Roan vans are in a little section on their own, not too far from the amenities but very little noise. There are about 20 Roan vans I'd guess.
It's a MASSIVE site with mostly statics, we didn't see any touring pitches so I suspect the touring areas are tucked away some distance from the facilities. Statics are mostly Vacansoleil. We were there when it was very much off-peak, most of the Vacansoleil vans were empty. Vans are very closely packed with no divisions between pitches.
Site is on top of a hill, so plenty of sun.
The site itself if in the middle of nowhere really so you need a car. There is Perigueux within a five minute drive down a very narrow and steep lane with hairpin bends. There is also a large retail park nearby with several big hypermarkets and some clothes outlets and so on, including a big Decathlon. It's a fair way from the main Dordogne tourist bits like Sarlat. Perigueux is pretty for a day trip, but if you want to do the main Dordogne tourist sites, you're looking at over an hour to get to any of them apart from Lascaux.
Onsite is a big pool complex that is terraced, so the swimming pool is on the bottom terrace with the slide drop bit, there's a lazy river and a massive kids pool bit at the top. Water was very cold when we were there. Very clean though. Pool has plenty of sunbeds and a limited number of parasols.
There's a big bar area with a stage for the entertainment, a restaurant and a takeaway that is Dutch orientated, so frikandel, kaassouffle, frite met mayo etc. They also do large pizzas for about 10 Euro. Frikandel and frite are about 3 or 4 Euro. Food was cooked fresh and was hot.
There's a small shop that does bread, milk and some nonperishable goods, prices are as expected. We used it once or twice.
Entertainment is keyed up for very little ones, under 10's certainly, but really more like under 6's. It doesn't finish late. There was a mini disco every evening that was really for under 5's, they played Bob The Builder, that sort of thing. The entertainment reps worked very hard. Think there was a daily kiddies club but we didn't use it.
There are some small playparks dotted about that were fine for my ten year old, but not older children and there is a soft play thing near the bar that is for under 8's.
Roan reps were lovely. Dutch, fluent English and very friendly.
All in all a nice site. I suspect it would be very very busy and noisy in peak season though as statics are all very close to each other.
Have rated high for child friendliness, but please note this is for young children, not teens.
