What a lovely campsite in the Pyrenees mountains approximately one mile outside of the town of Lourdes. As it gets very busy in Lourdes (it's the second most visited place in France after Paris), it is best to leave the car behind and go down on the shuttle bus which costs 1 euro 20 cents per person each way and runs at 9. 20 am 1pm and 7pm, the only thing is if you go down at 7pm there is not a return service and you would have to make your own way back.
We paid for 2 adults and our 17 year old son approximately 30 euros per day which included 10 amp electric, but you are able to choose what amps you require and pay accordingly for them.
The campsite has a nice swimming pool and a children's paddling pool, and a seating area on the lawn looking down the valley.
The toilets and showers were cleaned approximately twice a day and very well maintained and the showers were nice and warm.
The owner speaks very good English and likes to chat about English football, there is a bar and snack bar on site and you can pre-order cooked chickens and fresh bread for the following day.
Wifi is free for the first 24 hours and 2 euros a day after that. There are several chalets for hire, if you don't want to tow a caravan.
We got a map from reception and followed a suggested site-seeing tour all around the Pyrenees National Park and way up into the mountains above the clouds and what terrific scenery it was, even though it was a bit hairy scary on some of the bends.
It is definitely a site we would visit again if down in this area.

We first came to La Foret in 2014 shortly after it had been taken over by new owners and were impressed by their energy and their plans for the future. Returning this year it was good to see that they are delivering on their ideas and creating a delightful and increasingly busy campsite. The reception area is being developed and offers a very pleasant indoor and outdoor dining facility in the early evening. It has a small shop area for emergency supplies and fresh morning bread and croissants can be pre-ordered but the site is only a mile from the Sanctuary at Lourdes and less than two miles from the town centre ville. It closes early in the evening (8ish) because of its proximity to town and the fact that many users attend the evening procession at the sanctuary. As a result it is quiet and restful.
There is a super new pool (usual French rules on dress/no shorts apply) and a good kids play area complete with chicken run and there is access into the forest for extended dog walking.
EHU offers 3a, 6a and 10a options and pitches are on well tended grass bordering good service roads.
Chalets and mobile homes for rent although some are owned and well maintained toilet and shower facilities with a full motor home service point.
Key fob for the entry and exit barrier for a small deposit makes late access easy if you go down into town or away for the day. No worries about having to be back before they shut the gates.
There are plenty of campsites in the area and we have used several over the years but this is our undoubted favourite and strongly recommended. Charges are very reasonable and there are no add-owns or hidden extras
