We stayed here in 2008 and always remembered it as a great site, so we decided to come back this year.

We were not the only returners as many people we spoke to said they have returned here many times. A Dutch man staying beside us first camped here as a teenager with his family in the 80s and has been coming with his own children ever since.

The vast majority of people are camping in large tents and are staying for 2/3 weeks. This gave a real holiday feel to the place as pitches weren't free for very long.

The pitches are spread over a large area, away from the reception/ pool area. Most are very shaded. There are no hedges separating the pitches, but as the pitches are so large, hedges are not necessary.

Our pitch backed onto a field, sometimes used for horseriding. It was lovely amd very quiet.

The river Dordogne is at the end of the site. It's really beautiful here. Its fast flowing so that you can have great fun going down so far on inflatables but wide enough so that its safe for swimming. There is canoe hire up the river amd the campsite can book this and organise transport for you. The number of canoes passing the site is very small compared to the busier sections of the river where it gets so busy it can be hard to swim in the river.

The campsite organises a weekly communal BBQ which as the other reviews have said, is great for getting to know people. There's also a movie night where they project onto the side of the barn.

We ate in the restaurant, which was really good, choice of local food or burgers, etc. The restaurant is closed on Mondays and a pizza van comes in. Tip- if you are ordering a pizza, order as soon as the van comes in. I went up at around 6 to place my order and was told it would be 10pm as so many people had got in before me.

The pool is great. It never gets busy as most people spend their time on the river and just use it for cooling off. There's not many loungers and it wasn't the type of place where people spend the day hogging the loungers.

There's a bar by the pool which is nice and relaxed and has a few children's games.

I did a lot of cycling to local villages, St Sozy is 5k away and has a small supermarket, Gluges is on the river and is built up into the rock. The roads are really quiet and safe for cycling. You are cycling with walnut groves on one side and limestone rock on the other, passing beautiful houses and farm buildings, its gorgeous.

Creysse, the village is right by the site, it has a small hotel and restaurant. It's a picturesque little place. There's a night market on Tuesdays with local producers selling their wares. We got a roast chicken and garlic potatoes from one stall. I think the garlic potatoes were one of the most delicious things I have ever tasted, highly recommended!

I can understand what the other reviewer is saying, and why people would want to keep this place to themselves, but as he said, Pierre and team work extremely hard to make this a really special campsite and deserve all the credit.

You will have to book in advance for July and August as it is busy then.

Spent two weeks here with friends in our caravans.

Lovely site in a rural setting away from hustle and bustle of city life and not frantic like other bigger sites. Very laid back feeling to the place but staff and owners work hard behind the scenes and things run along just fine. On the banks of the Dordogne and has a stop off point for canoes and a number of different distance trips can be taken. God base for touring about. Nice little bars, one adjacent to the pool. Reasonable prices and good food. Small shop that is very well stocked and the local honey is fab! Communal BBQs on Fridays great for meeting new people from all over Europe. We have fairly large caravans but pitches we were given more than big enough. Mosquitoes can be a pest nearer to the river but this is not the sites fault and as I react badly to bites I went well prepared and didn't suffer to badly.

I could probably write loads but quite simply this is a little gem of a campsite, off the beaten track and if you are looking for a really good location to pitch your tent or caravan and have a relaxing time then give it a try. I will probably return which is not something I do often.

Staff are all friendly, helpful and efficient, and nothing seems to be a problem.

There's a reason no one leaves reviews for this camp site. Its so good, those in the know do not want others to find it and book it! If you dream of camping in dappled shade under walnut trees, taking part in mass BBQ's with people from all over Europe, swimming in the stunning Dordogne river and just totally chilling out, Creysse is for you. Most people who come back, do so for weeks on end.

Widely acknowledged as the best camp site in the Lot, though in saying all this I know I've just hacked off lots of the regulars who want to keep this site a treasured secret. Sorry guys but Pierre has a business to run deserves the acclaim.
