We have just come back from a fab couple of nights at the Blue bell. We had two pitches with friends and family, adult group. We have had the most amazing weather.
The site is quiet and welcoming, however there isn't much around, apart from fab scenery, walks and nature!
Tenting is a different experience there are no showers and the one toilet is at the back of the pub and open to those using the beer garden. But for a couple of nights, its been well worth the baby wipe baths.
The pub itself has great food with fab, helpful and friendly staff, I would most definitely recommend this site and the pub! We will be going back!

This was our 2nd visit to the Bluebell Inn, lovely quiet camping with pub on site, serving beautiful food. Friendly, helpful owners. Nature reserve within walking distance.
Close to Retford, we also visited Lincoln and Gainsborough.
We will definitely be visiting the Bluebell Inn again.

Just had 2 nights on this lovely quiet rural site behind the pub on our first outing this year only 30 minutes from home.
Location is perfect for walking - you can connect to the Idle Valley Nature Reserve via bridle paths - lots of way markers on posts. We downloaded the "Idle Ramble via pub walk" a 6 mile circular walk from the carpark entrance which took us 2 hours.
The 27 bus at entrance goes to Retford one direction 20 mins (market day Thursday) and Bawtry opposite direction. The food and beers in the pub were excellent and the proprietors very friendly and amenable.
Facilities perfectly adequate for us for a short stay - water, electric, chemical waste and toilet/handbasin.
Phoned and booked a pitch, arrived at our leisure and paid during the evening after the pub opened at 5. 00pm - £15 p/n with electric. Food is served Wednesday - Sunday but would advise booking as it was very busy while we were there.

We have stayed at The Blue Bell campsite numerous times and thought it was about time I left a review.
The site is located to the rear of the Blue Bell Inn in the North Nottinghamshire village of Lound, and is ideally located near the A1 and Old Great North Road just North of Retford to make a great stop off on any longer distance travels.
The owners are very friendly and helpful, you can pay for your stay in the bar at any point of your visit, we pay when we settle up after a meal.
The site is accessed through the pub car park and stables beyond. There is EHU on request, drinking water, grey waste disposal point, elsan point and toilets on site.
The site is level and well maintained and is open all year round. There is a rally field beyond the campsite. Mature trees offer shelter on part of the campsite.
From the site there is a network of footpaths and trails which link up with the nearby (and excellent) Idle Valley Natural Reserve, which is well worth a visit.
The Blue Bell offers a variety of ales etc and boasts an excellent restaurant which is very popular and booking is recommended. Prices are very reasonable and you will not be disappointed.
The nearby market town of Retford is a must visit with a variety of independent shops and Cafes along with a bustling market on certain days. Kings park is beautiful with the river Idle running through it. The Chesterfield canal runs through Retford and passes near to the campsite, is ideal for walking and cycling as well as canoeing or punting.
Caravan spares are available from the nearby UKcaravans at Elksley should you need anything.
Local attractions include;
Retford town center
Sundown adventure land
Tuxford windmill and tearoom
Sherwood Pines
Sherwood Forest
North Leverton windmill
Thamar ice cream parlour
Yorkshire Safari park
Doncaster and its amenities
In summary, a great place to stay for any occasion at anytime of year with great local attractions. Good honest food and drinks on site. All you could need for your stay
10/10
