 I really liked this site. It's reasonably quiet, without being too regimented. The owners are very friendly and obliging. Family-friendly, with informal games and entertainment organised if wanted, but no pressure to join in if you don't want to. Pitches are a good size, numbered and demarcated with trees and bushes - much better than a general free for all I find! The bathroom facilities are very good and kept spotless, as are the washing-up areas. The site is convenient for the small town of Apremont, and about 30 mins from the coast. I've stayed in static vans on the Vendee coast at big sites, and I much preferred staying at Les Charmes. Even though it's further to travel for a day at the beach, the peace and quiet and the feeling of being in rural France more than makes up for that. The site has a small shop and snack bar, and you can order fresh bread, pastries, etc to be delivered to the site next day - something we took full advantage of! The HyperU at Aizenay is only a very straightforward 15 min drive away, and has all your heart could desire foodie-wise! If you can't face the drive, there's a small Spar and a lovely boulangerie in Apremont. The Centre Restaurant in Apremont is very good. The lake at Apremont is a nice place to spend a sunny day, with pedalos, canoes, playground, picnic benches and a small beach - also Le Cabanon Restaurant which is good for pizzas, galettes, etc. Would I go to the area and the campsite again - definitely!
