Beautiful location but appalling facilities. Only one freezing cold working shower and only two working toilets.
All facilities unisex and look like they have never been cleaned. No wash up facilities.
Definitely not a site to be visited again.

We stayed 2 nights on this site over the first weekend in August. As other reviews have mentioned, the owner lives off site so we were a bit unsure where to pitch when we arrived although there were plenty of spaces, so we just chose one. The owner turned up a couple of hours later and we did see him half a dozen times during our stay.
Lovely countryside site, within easy walking distance of Mouldsworth train station. The scenery is beautiful and we saw plenty of bird life. The site is on a hill, with flat pitches built into the hillside which means that you don't feel that you are surrounded by other units on all sides.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the toilet block is basic. There were 3 toilets, 3 sinks and 1 shower - all unisex. There was no sign of the holes in the walls and ceiling that other reviewers have mentioned.
We are intending to go back for another weekend stay at somepoint in the future.

We stayed here over new year, it is a fabulous site but the amenities block is from everyone's nightmares. The showers have a whole in the floor and the toilets have holes in the wall to the outside, so in the middle of winter is is freezing for ladies to sit on the seats.

When we pulled onto this site I was a little alarmed, although I had booked and paid a deposit it looked like there was no level pitch available. The field appeared to be a hill! There were a few pitches at the bottom and I could see the top of caravans and a tent at the top. We had to wait for the owner to arrive to show us where to pitch as he lives off site. Worth the wait. We followed him to the top of the hill and were given the last available flat pitch up there, with beautiful views of the surrounding countryside. The hill prevented anyone pitching in front of us blocking the view and we had sun all day. Was lovely to sit outside our tent up there and watch the rabbits scurrying about the field.
We chose the site as it was close to a railway station and I wanted to use my free family railcard. Could see and hear the trains passing from our pitch, but this was only during the day, Northern Rail between Chester and Manchester. Apart from trains, occasional planes, other campers and birds (hawks were regular visitors) there was no other noise, no road traffic noise at all and it was silent all night. Visited Manchester 3 times, for the Corornation Street Tour (brilliant), Imperial War Museum North (disappointing) and for an event at Manchester Central (ex GMex). One day we got off the train at Northwich and walked to the Anderton Boat Lift (quiet a long walk). Had a nice walk round Chester walls and riverside and took my daughters to Go Ape at Delamere Forest just one train stop away. There were lots of other destinations to visit but we didn't have time. Station was a short but hilly walk away.
The site itself, the unisex facilities were in a portable cabin at the bottom of the hill, a bit in need of updating, which the owner mention was in the planning. 2 out of the 3 toilets working and 1 out 2 showers. This shower was always clean and supplied with plentiful hot water. There was also hot water to the hand basins though I kept finding the tap had been pulled off! The owner had thoughtfully left a selection of tourist information leaflets in the shower room. He was away most of the week we were there and we didn't see anyone in charge but someone must have been visiting early every morning as the block had been cleaned every day and replenished with paper, soap, etc. There was a very clean and well organised re-cycling area. There is a fishing lake at the bottom of the site but not visible from our pitch. Apparently there is shooting too, didn't see this while we were there but saw the courses on the owners extensive land. The nearest shop was in the next village, Ashton Hayes, a small community shop with a Post Office. The nearest pub was The Goshawk near Mouldsworth Railway Station. After paying over £9 for 2 halfs of lager, 1 half of cider and a glass of lemonade, we only visited once, but the menu looked impressive.
We had a lovely week, would visit again but probably a Monday to Friday stay. We had the site mostly to ourselves after the weekend campers left, but were glad to leave on the Saturday as the site filled up and there were dogs running around off-lead. Although there are signs to keep dogs on leads, there is no-one on site to police this. We paid £14 a night for a tent with no electric although there were plenty of EHU points at both the top and bottom of the hill if we had needed it.
