We have just spent 4 amazing days at driftaway glampsite and have loved every minute! We have always wanted to try glamping as we liked the idea of just turning up at a site and relaxing straight way, with no pitching up tents, or having to sort out water or firewood etc. The site owners Liz and Nigel have provided absolutely everything you could possibly need to make your stay as comfortable as possible, and they could not have been any more accommodating, as you are made to feel very welcome from the moment you arrive.
The special thing about this site is that you have the whole field all to yourself with no other campers, so privacy and personal space is optimal. If there is just the two of you, or you are looking for somewhere to take the whole family (you can pitch extra tents upon negotiation) then this place is perfect. The beach is only a short drive away and the small town has a good range of pubs, shops and supermarkets etc.
The field itself is flat and surrounded on three sides by woodlands, providing nice walks and lots of exploring, there are also rope swings and dens so the kids can have hours of fun! (Like the good old days) There is also a firepit and cooking tripod so you can cook on the open fire. We took our two dogs, and I have never seen them so calm and quiet, I think that they both really enjoyed themselves too, lazing in the sun all day without a care in the world. There is also plenty of wildlife (rabbits, foxes, deer etc) so it is very peaceful.
The safari tent is pitched in the top corner of the field, benefitting from the sun all day, but if you want to relax in the shade, the covered porch is a great place to sit and chill out with a glass or two of wine and eat your meals etc. The tent is solid and very spacious and there is a wood burning stove inside to keep you nice and warm if the evenings are a bit chilly. The double bed is comfy and there is a small kitchen area complete with utensils, pots crockery etc. Although there is no electric inside the tent, the summerhouse which is approximately 20m away contains electric sockets to recharge your mobiles, laptops etc and also houses a large larder fridge and shower, so you have everything you need for your stay. Wifi is available, but only up by the owners house which is also on site. There is a separate portaloo adjacent to the summerhouse that is also kept very clean and fresh smelling.
We would recommend this site if you want to camp out in style and enjoy the benefits of having the place to yourselves as you have everything you need here. We have tried think of something negative to say about the place but can't! because if we did have any problems or concerns then Liz and Nigel were only too happy to sort it out straightaway. We will definitely be going back next year. Thank you both for such a relaxing time and experience!
