Found Formaking Farm when looking for a campsite near the Chilli Festival in Dorset and discovered a real gem. If you want a site to unwind and relax this is it!
The site is quite basic but that really suited us and we weren't bound by a raft of rules to abide by. When you turn up it's a case of pitch where you want without needing to encroach on anyone else's space as there's plenty of room and never over booked. There's a couple of loo's and showers which aren't to the height of luxary but perfectly acceptable, after all if you don't like roughing it in any way. Don't ever go camping. We brought our firepit and sat outside the tent enjoying the flames feeling very relaxed with a glass of wine in hand. Debbie, The owner is very helpful and will help in any way she can and you can use the small shop in the campsite just up the lane or Verwood is only a few minutes drive away with plenty of stores too.
Already re-booked for August bank holiday and really looking forward to our second stay.

We had a great 4 days camping with our 3 kids.
You just turn up and pitch where you want so no overcrowding.
There are no restrictions on having an open fire perfect for toasting marshmallows.
It's open and away from road so you can let kids run free safely, Feed the ducks, rabbits and horse.
Toilet/shower block basic but very clean.
The owner is very friendly and so was her little boy who my kids loved playing with and missed when we went home.
Had a great day out at the Heavy Horse Centre just up the road, and went walking in the new forest.
They were doing some building work whilst we were there but this did not affect our holiday at all. If anything our kids loved watching the cemet mixers turn up.
Will hopefully be going back in 2016 to see how it all looks, and have another relaxing break.

We spent 4 nights in this gorgeous site, the kids played and fed the rabbits, chickens and ducks. They also fed the pony and beautiful black horse. Which we later watched the owner ride up to the forest that is next to the site. It made me want riding lessons. There is a wildlife area or lake area the kids seen dragon files & frogs! They collect bits of wood and we hired a fire pit and toasted marsh mellows. The owners were incredibly kind, making sure everyone was okay. We also ordered in a India Takeaway one night and it was delivered to our tent AMAZING! We will be going back next year! There is loads to do in the area and we had fresh chicken eggs for breakfast each day.

Very simply, this is a wonderful camp site! It is beautifully quiet and the owners are amazingly kind and helpful.
Our daughter was free to roam without us worrying and spent a lot of our week on the trampoline, playing with the dogs, cats and rabbits on site! There were chickens and ducks and we were able to help ourselves to eggs from the chicken coup.
The camp site has great toilets and showers, and I understand a small shop will be coming soon. There are lots of activities within a half hour drive of the site and a great Morrisons just down the road!
We will definitely be returning next year and we are looking forward to it already!.

Just had an amazing week camping. We were three families of friends with lots of kids and we were able to set up all together in a beautiful spot where the kids had the freedom and safety to explore and play, and us adults were able to relax. The situation of the site is perfect and we were able to take the dogs on a beautiful walk right from the gateway and into the forest. The owners could not have been more accommodating and friendly. The kids loved all the animals, and the chickens provided plenty of eggs, which pleased them come breakfast time! I would recommend this site to anyone and will be back next year. If you are looking for peace and quiet and a getaway from it all then this is place to be.
