I had the good fortune of staying at the High Farm CL at Beadlam Rigg. Perhaps the most peaceful sites I have stayed at that is not too far away from civilisation. This is mainly due to the fact that the farm is situated on a dead end road so there is no through traffic.
The surrounding area is perfect for walkers and cyclist a like. Just a glance at the Ordance Survey map will reveal the area is a maze of footpaths/right of ways and country lanes. The landscape is a mixture of plantations, open farm land and the impressive North Yorks Moors. Add to this the small town of Helmsley is only 2. 5miles away with it's co op, bakers, tea rooms and castle there really is something to keep you occupied. Assuming you are not wishing to sit outside your camper all day reading a book. Also a garage in the village with an LPG pump for those with Gaslow refillable tanks.
The site is £6 per night so your right to assume 'No Hook Up'. Thou the Teasdale family are happy to recharge your battery. My phone and digital radio were also welcomed. The half an acre of lawned grass gives plenty of space. The East and South sides are Hedged, West and North open so you can enjoy the open fields making the site feel even bigger, and of course the summer sunsets in the West. The ground is as flat as a pancake with just a slight consistent slope. The service point is as you expect and next to the gate as you enter the site (No Long Walks)
When I was there, even thou it was lambing time, I was made to feel welcome by the Teasdales and they always had time for a chat and to help out.
Needless to say i'll be going back.
