Camping Vidy is open all year and is located in the city of Lausanne on the shore of Lake Leman (Lake Geneva). The A1/E23 motorway ends at a roundabout and to access the site go all the way around and exit at the fourth turnoff then at the traffic lights turn left which will take you under the motorway. The site entrance and the reception is at the bottom of this road across a small roundabout next to the Olympic Building. The site operates a one way system so you have to turn right after the reception but take care here because parked cars can make the turn tight.

This site has a mixture of electricity connections so they will ask what you have and site you accordingly although they will rent you a Swiss adaptor if necessary. The site has two sanitary blocks, and an on-site restaurant and games room. It is through this restaurant/games room that you can access the path on the lakeside from where you can walk or ride into the city centre. The pitches here are small and grassy and a lot of them are occupied by permanent mobile homes some of which are lovely and some are not.

When you arrive on the site you are each given a free bus pass for Lausanne which is really useful but note it only covers the city. The bus stop is about 10 mins walk away just off the aforementioned roundabout. There are Supermarkets near the site on the bus routes.

When we first arrived on site we were not keen but during our week here it grew on us as Lausanne is a beautiful city and boat rides on the lake are a must although expensive (but this is Switzerland everything is expensive)! The only thing to be noted is that the general public can walk through the site to get to the lakeside path so you have to be security aware although we were not aware of any issues.
