We chose a grass pitch on this little gem of a site, tucked away and nice and quiet.
A nice touring base for exploring Dartmoor.
Staff are welcoming and helpful with local knowledge.
Facilities are clean and adequate.
The grass pitch was nice and level, and took the pegs easily. Hookup had no issues.
All in all, a nice site with plenty of pitch and provided accommodation options.
I'm sure we'll be back.

Tucked away in man made woodlands halfway between Exeter and Plymouth this is a pleasant, quiet site with 46 tent pitches and 15 motorhome pitches (not all with EHU). As it's spread over 32 acres no-one is crowded together too much.
The road to the site is quite narrow and in poor repair in places, but that's not the site's fault. The roads on site are also in a bad way in places so take it easy coming up the road.
Facilities are decent - showers, toilets, shop, launderette and the staff are friendly. Fire-pits are allowed on pitches that don't already have one and wood is available in the shop. Shop prices are not excessive although a bit more expensive than the supermarket.
Pitch prices are ok too. From £22 a night although extras like 2nd tents, gazebos and dogs are add-ons.
All in all, a lovely experience at any time of the year. Open 365 days.

My family (2 adults and 2 teens) have just returned from a fantastic few days at Ashbourne Woods. We stayed in the Wild Camping section which is located in the woods and has no electricity. The pitch was fantastic. Really quiet with no neighbours. I have never slept so well at a campsite. The firepit was a brilliant addition. You can either collect dead wood from the woods or buy logs from the camp office. No cars are allowed at the pitches so wheelbarrows are supplied to take kit to the tents. This was no problem as even the furthest pitch isn't that far from the car park. There is a lovely pub 5 minutes walk from the bottom of the site. On a Tuesday evening the 'FairyCodMother' comes to the site to sell fish and chips if you want a night off from cooking. I can't recommend this site enough if you want a peaceful camping experience.

This is an excellent campsite with a unique opportunity to camp in a working wood.
Please read the site description clearly and the reviews before you decide, this is not your normal caravan site.
We took our 10 year old and our 19 year old plus two dogs, we all enjoyed ourselves immensely. Walking in the huge woods, having camp fires, enjoying the freedom that children very rarely get these days. The facilities are functional and clean, the woodland is exactly what it says on the tin! The local pub 'The Church House Inn' is a must visit, good food, good beer, good prices.
The people are friendly and there to help if you need it. This is a wild site and as such doesn't have 'hot and cold running supermarkets' but what it does have is 'everything you actually need' and none of the stuff you don't really need.
The site is peaceful and a great place for you to unwind and the kids to run wild in the woods!

We've just spent a week at this site which I believe only opened in June. It's tucked away about a mile or so from the A38 down a country lane which is just passable with a caravan in the unlikely event you meet another vehicle, and although there's not really anything in the immediate vicinity it's central for lots of places so a good location. Rattery is about a mile away, the pub there is very old and nice, we didn't eat there but the reviews on Trip Advisor are good. The site is nestled right in the middle of woods, perfect if you have a dog. In the centre is a well mown area with tents, caravans, yurts and one or two wooden pods, it looked very well maintained and being surrounded by fir trees will be a lovely all year round. There were also a few clearings in the woods each for one tent with a camp fire. As well as the field there are two wide gravel drives through the trees with grass down one side for caravans (each pitch in that area had their own water/grey waste/EHU I think). One of the drives was all tourers/motorhomes and the other one had spaces for three tourers and three or four static caravans to rent - at the end were a couple of old static caravan which had been dumped there and were an eyesore, the owner told us that one of them was going to be moved shortly.
The reception was a room piled up with furniture although as the site is new maybe that is temporary. The toilets & showers were basic but clean. There was a pot washing area and washing machines/dryers which we didn't use. The recycling bins were full and spilling out all over the floor for the whole week that we were there. As no cars can park in the field/woods there is a large car park half of which was still being surfaced but because of the dense trees we didn't really hear the digger. The owners were both friendly. Overall a beautiful site with a general feeling of tranquility.
