Stopped here for 10 days in our campervan and really loved it.
A gem of a campsite. Not manicured and you are in the middle of woodland but with big enough pitches.
Compost toilet and solar showers - toilets are good and clean. Showers are okay, and I was told that they are being upgraded / improved soon.
The owners go out of their way to ensure you stay is good, nothing is a hassle. Red squirrels can be seen on the campsite.
Buses go to Yarmouth, Newport and The Needles place just outside the campsite.
Dark skies are great for star and meteor spotting.

Peaceful, basic site with friendly owners, secluded pitches and few facilities.
Beautiful woodland setting - woodpeckers, red squirrels etc.
Everything clean and well looked after, firepits and wood available.
Didn't brave the solar shower on a short stay.

Loved the privacy, large pitch, the surroundings are stunning,
Also loved the woodland walk, in a perfect location to explore the west wight,
Could not fault it, a real gem

This is a lovely site perfect for anyone looking for a peaceful location with back to basics eco facilities. The compost toilets were great.
We choose pitch 4 as it has it's own wash up facilities which was great. We prefer being able to choose our own pitch and Campwight allow you to do this which other sites don't always.
The owners are lovely and very friendly, making sure we were well stocked with wood for our campfire each night. We loved having the campfire as not many sites allow them on the Isle of Wight which is a shame.
We were lucky enough to spot some red squirrels while we were there which was great. We went on many woodland walks in the camp's own woodlands.
The only improvement I would say is that the showers were cold even on sunny days, due in part to the time of year and could perhaps do with a back up system for the solar power. The owner does plan to address this for next year.
Very reasonable price and the site is now open all year which is great as we always holiday off peak. Overall a lovely site and great value for money.
Would recommend and will be returning.

Took my wife, 4 kids and 2 dogs for a spot of wild(ish) camping here in august as they are one of the few places that allow hammocks.
The main site is well maintained and the compost toilets are surprisingly pleasant (nothing like festival experience).
The owners are really accommodating and friendly. The kids enjoyed the freedom and the woodland area we stayed in was unspoiled and perfect for what we wanted.
I would highly recommend camp wight to anyone and will be visiting again

We were among the first groups to use this new site - a real find if you're looking for some peace and quiet in a 'back to basics' camping environment.
Access from the main road across the field was fine and there's a good variety of pitches in the wood or a semi-wooded field, which gives a real feeling of privacy. It's a really small site and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves.
Toilets are of the composting variety (plus a straw urinal!) and absolutely fine when we were there. The solar showers were warm on the sunnier days but could do with something more robust than a shower curtain to protect your modesty!
The site is brilliant for kids - ours played in the woods (where there are pre-built dens) and loved the hay bale. There's also a good family pub just down the road which has a bouncy castle and playground.
It's about a five minute drive into Yarmouth where we picked up ice (there's no ice block exchange) and other essentials.
They don't allow fires on the ground but have recycled washing machine firepits available, which were great - and there's loads of wood available.
