Please note we have been advised that this site has closed, and no longer offers camping, motorhome or caravanning pitches, although the pub itself is still open. If you know that this situation has changed in the future, please could you let us know. Many thanks

Just returned from a stay at the Rose and Crown pub. The weather didn't deter us from our first trip to the Canterbury area. The previous reviewers helped us to decide to stay and we were not disappointed, if you don't need anything other than a place to hitch up as a base, a toilet and don't want to pay a lot then this site is for you.
The site is a grassy field with a tap and the use of the pub loo - only downside is there was no hot water when we stayed. However the great bonus is the food served at the pub which is excellent, good value, served quickly, and very tasty.
The site is also in a great position to visit Canterbury and Whitstable.

We only stayed at the Rose and Crown camp site for one night and my first impression of the site made my heart sink. The ground was rough and overgrown with the remains of a huge bonfire in the middle of the field, the remains of more smaller bonfires were visible and there was an overflowing skip by the entrance which had obviously been there for quite a while.
However, we did enjoy our stay, thanks to the friendly welcome we received from the staff and regulars of the Rose and Crown, we ate our evening meal in the pub and were even allowed to take our two dogs along. The food was excellent.
The site facilities consist of an outside entrance to the pubs toilets, which are immaculately clean and modern, however, some people may feel uncomfortable washing in a pub toilet whilst the pub is open.
The village is beautiful and right opposite the pub is the huge common which is great for dog walking.
There was a great playground for kids at the rear of the pub.
I personally think with a few hook-ups and some regular maintenance this could be a first class site.

The field could do with a bit of a tidy but we had a great week.
The owners couldn't have been more helpful and the locals made us and our children very welcome.
The food was fantastic and plentiful.
Playground was great for kids.
There is a very well stocked shop a couple of doors away.
