This is a lovely rural site on the edge of the Peak District national park. The views from the site are beautiful and there were a few walking trails nearby.
At it's busiest there were 7 motorhome / tents but the field is a good size and was never cramped or noisy.
There was a fair bit of rain while we were there but the site is fairly well drained and we had no problem pulling off when we left. Owners were friendly but let us get on with it.
Ballidon Moor Farm is on our list of places to visit again.

Excellent site. Very quiet and peaceful. Sloping site so needed to have blocks to level van. We had our own bathroom facilities so did not use those on site so can’t comment about those.
We had bikes with us and there is a new secure bike storage facility if we had needed to use it. The site owner Vicki is really lovely and very helpful.
Site very handy for those wishing to cycle the trails in the area - High Peak. Tissington etc

I loved this site. Quiet, peaceful and tranquil with fabulous views over the Peak District.
The owner was very laid back and I only saw her the once on the evening of my second day.
Very reasonable cost at £18 per night for my van (no awning).
You all pitch around the edge of a grassy field - there were 4 caravans, 3 tents and 2 unoccupied pods when I was there. Lovely views from my van to wake up to in the morning.
The facilities were very basic, but adequate and clean(ish) and certainly worth tolerating for the other benefits the site offers.

A really pleasant site set in the Derbyshire dales. Ideally suited to touring the area with the towns of Matlock, Bakewell and Ashbourne within easy reach as is the many delights of this beautiful area of the country. The site is small with grass pitches on a slight slope. The toilet block and showers are adequate but could have been cleaned more regularly but this is an observation not a criticism because the toilets and shower cubicles were clean but there were spider webs in the corners!
The owner, Vicky was really nice and welcoming and took time out to chat and point you in the right direction for the many wonderful tourist attractions.
For a most relaxing and hospitable site I would struggle to find better. Highly recommended

Well. Great site, and the host Vicki was very welcoming.
After talking for a while found we both worked on the contruction of Carsington Res.
Small world.
Toilets and showers very good, pitch size was also great.
Site kept clean and close cut grass, with the mower collecting cuttings.
Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times, due to live stock.
They have camping pods, which were next to our pitch, looked good and a couple used them over the weekend.
This is a good family site, only downside for me was, the lack of a dog walk, having a GSD he needs a lot of exercise.
And you only had the short lane to walk him.
Would recommend and will return.

Ballidon Moor Campsite is in a stunning location, with a great view. It is a lovely little site, very peaceful, catering for only a few caravans and tents, and with two wooden camping pods. There are masses of activities and things to do in the area, we were completely spoiled for choice.
I was with a group, and two sets of my friends had booked the pods, whilst I 'roughed it' in a tent. The pods were clean, and equipped with lights, electric sockets, a heater, plastic drawers and a washing up bowl. They were noticeably warmer than the tent, which in early April was a big benefit at night. The pods were big enough to take a double air bed plus two singles, although there wasn't a lot of room left over after that.
The campsite was near enough to the local road to hear passing traffic, including HGVs on their way to and from the nearby quarry, but the noise was not intrusive, and hardly anything at night. What night did bring, however, was a chance to see many more stars than can be seen from our light polluted towns, and bats and owls out in force.
This being a small site, facilities were fairly limited, but that was part of its charm. There were electric hook-ups available for tents and caravans, but I didn't bother having one. Unisex showers and toilets were provided in a shipping container arrangement, and were clean with soap and toilet roll provided. There were mirrors, but they had clearly been installed by a giant, meaning even the top of my head was out of view! The showers were lovely and warm, but the flow rate was very low, meaning I didn't quite dare wash my hair (they would have been fine for short hair, though). There was also a drinking water tap, a chemical toilet disposal point and bins. The one facility I would have liked would have been some sort of drain for washing up water etc, as I wasn't very comfortable just chucking it on the ground.
I thought the pitch / pod prices were very reasonable, and the owner was lovely, including when we changed our booking, and giving us ideas for what there was to do in the area.
We had a great time at this site; it was very relaxing and easy going, without any of the rules that come with big sites - not that any were needed, as everyone was very quiet and in bed by 10 pm.
A great site.
