A warm welcome awaits at this little bit of wild camping in beautiful rolling Suffolk countryside. Nic, the owner is most helpful whilst he respected the reason I was here was for peace & quite. ( like most people that come here)
Thankfully this isn’t really a camp site but an area of mown grass in a meadow, a fire pit with no charge for wood. A water tap in the owners garden, a shovel for the loo, it’s basic but brilliant. Limited phone signal. Surrounded by trees & wildlife it’s very tranquil.
It’s a 2 1/2 hour walk from Halesworth railway station via public footpaths across beautiful scenery & quite country lanes, great for testing basic map reading skills.
For those that want to wild camp / micro adventure but are a bit unsure this ‘site’ will tick the boxes.
Carry in food etc as no shops nearby.
I wouldn’t recommend this site for families, due to the basic nature of it.
Thank you Nic for a simple but great stay. Kind regards Nigel.

I stayed here with my son for one Sunday night on a cycling weekend in late October.
The day's cycling didn't go quite to plan so by the time we arrived it was pitch black. We had great fun pitching the tent, finding firewood and getting a fire going by the light of bicycle lights.
We had a great night cooking our dinner on the camp fire and without any hint of the modern world until 'rush hour' the following morning. When we heard 2 vehicles somewhere in the distance!
Facilities could be described as 'a tap on the other side of the next field and a spade'. The 1/10 for facilities is not a bad thing - in our case, not having facilities was one of the reasons we chose Oak Tree Cottage.
We definitely plan to return. Thanks for a lovely wild camping experience!
