Very pretty, spacious field bordered by hedges and trees.
Plenty of space to spread out and the logs and firepit was a great bonus.
The toilet block was basic but clean and there were few frills generally but we had a lovely time here and would recommend

Two of us spent a golden October week in peaceful solitude in the beautiful farm at Churchinford (Churchingford on the signpost!). The only noises were rooks, a distant tractor now and then, an occasional display by a local spitfire pilot and the owl. We enjoyed the dark skies, beautiful countryside in a non-commercial, unspoilt area. Despite the quiet, there is lots of local activity within reach - a mile and a half or so away you can find Churchinford Village Hall market morning (first Saturday of the month), Wednesday film nights, community shop run with the help of cheerful volunteers, with everything you need including local produce, internet cafe, pies, second hand books and information. We also enjoyed the Holman Clavell ('haunted') pub with Thursday music nights, great choice on the menu, its own cider and handmade walking sticks for sale. The Churchinford York Inn does a weekly fish and chip takeaway which tasted fantastic and also full restaurant menu with local faggots - massive faggots! Well-mannered dogs, trees, beards, bobble hats, Landrovers, deep grass and mud and blissful peace abound. The River Otter runs past the village at the bottom of the hill.
Facilities on the campsite include a large gently sloping, sunny field with well kept cushiony grass, a chemical disposal point, stone built farm building containing two showers, two toilets - unisex. It's about 150 paces to the toilets from centre of field, and there is a water tap at the field entrance. We received a friendly welcome and shown a bell on the garden gate should we need anything. The adjacent field has a few sheep in it. There are no cow pats! There are no hook-ups but a power point in the shower block if you need to dry your hair.
There are walks nearby but there are some 'beware of the bull' signs - we didn't risk entering a field with cattle on Southey Farm, but a beautiful walk across the Southey Moor didn't reveal any cattle, angry or otherwise, despite the sign near the gate to the Moor - proceed with caution.
We enjoyed a meal at the Pitcher and Piano Pub in Taunton - nice fruity apple and blackberry crumble - and a spa day at the Warners Hotel Cricket St Thomas (the swimming pool is quite deep and they have a steam room and sauna. ) You can swim there for a tenner I think. In Chard you can get two quite decent 2-course pensioners' meals for a tenner in the main high street pub.
Take your wellies and maybe a walking stick - footpaths can be really deep in mud. We will be back to this site for some restorative peace and long may it continue.

Idyllic hideaway location. Go before everyone else finds it!
A beautiful, well kept, level field in the peaceful Blackdown Hills.
Excellent area for walking, local produce and decent pubs. The community shop in Churchinford is particularly well stocked and provides free WiFi.
Being a recently established small campsite it is a great place to chill.
Carl, the owner, is friendly and helpful - from our booking by phone, on arrival and getting a much needed part for my campervan on departure.
Highly recommended!

A lovely ‘hideaway’ site.
The site was established in 2014 and is being developed with care and attention.
The large field slopes gently towards the south with an open aspect and views across an attractive valley. The site is bordered by trees on its north and west sides. The water point is at the entrance to the field, the chemical disposal, toilet, and showers 100 yards further. An extremely quiet location (except for the owls), but it is only a mile to the excellent community shop in Churhinford.
The Blackdown Hills is a very attractive ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty’, but it escapes the ravages of ‘honeypot tourism’. The site is an excellent base for local walks and cycle rides, also for exploring further afield, including Lyme Regis and the Jurassic Coast to the south and the Quantock Hills to the north. It would also make a good ‘mid-stop’ on a journey from London or the Midlands to the west of Cornwall.
For an excellent pub restaurant, try the ‘Candlelight’ in Bishopswood, about 3miles east of the site.
If towing, or with a motorhome, here is our recommended access route from the A303 westbound. Turn right off the A303 at the Eagle Tavern (about 5 miles from the start of the Blackdown Hills section of the A303), signposted Wellington. Continue 4 miles to cross roads and go straight on, signposted Wellington. Bear left in 300yds to crossroads. Go straight on. At T junction turn left, signposted Churchinford and Honiton. After 1mile bear right, signposted Honiton. After 1 mile pass crossroads with a pink cottage on the left. Turn right in a further 400yds into Buttles Lane. The farm is on the right ½ mile along the lane and the site entrance is a sharp right at the end of the buildings (C&CC sign there).
