Fantastic campsite. Lovely secluded pitches in a young spruce woodland. Covered firepit and as much seasoned wood as you want. Composting loo for each pitch too.

The showers and facilities are charming and rustic and pretty much spot on. Really, it is great value for money and the owners are brilliant - always on hand if you need anything, but also don't intrude in the slightest. Everything is clean and well maintained.

The whole site feels loved. We loved it. Our kids loved it even more. A magical place.

Recently returned from a week at Kitewood with my son, daughter-in-law and 3 grandchildren (3, 9, 12). Wonderful site!

Your own secluded pitch with compost toilet. Logs, toilet rolls, shower gel, shampoo, conditioner & washing up liquid all included in the price (all biodegradable products).

David the owner is as helpful and friendly as can be. If you don't want the hustle and bustle of a crowded site I cannot recommend this site highly enough.

Thank you Kitewood!

We love this campsite & we have just returned from our third summer holiday here. Here are some good things about it:

1. The owners are helpful, smiley hosts with tons of local knowledge to share. They are great with the children (and they now have a baby of their own. )

2. Unlimited firewood. And there is a foot operated log splitter for less experienced axe-wielders. Or an axe if you prefer. David is very happy to give tips on fire making or log splitting if you ask him.

3. A very very pleasant communal covered area - an open frame wooden building with canvas roof. Rustic but stylish and clean and has everything you need - 2 hot showers and 2 washing up sinks also with hot water. A noticeboard of useful info and a few info books to look at and some pans to borrow for your fire.

4. It's not totally wild - see point 3 above, but there are composting loos (also stylish and clean!) on each pitch, campfires of course and plenty of wildlife as the site is as low impact as possible. This year we saw 2 toads, 1 shrew, 1 newt, 2 bullfinches, many wildflowers, dragonflies, mushrooms & bats, and a very very brave family of robins.

5. Mainly we keep coming back because it is so amazing for the children. As is often the way on campsites, they make friends with other children on the site but the difference here is that they can then go 'exploring' together.

There are only a few pitches but they love the fact that each one is named and different, joined by tracks that us adults generally use, but also joined by paths through the trees and sometimes low child-only 'tunnels' through the trees. It all feels very independent and exciting but in reality they are rarely more than shouting distance away even if you can't actually see them.

6. Pembrokeshire is beautiful.

Downsides:

1. It's not on the beach. But although a field campsite next to the sea also appeals to me, on windy Welsh days I have been very glad we are sheltered at Kitewood instead.

2. The kids love it so much it's hard to drag them away!

This site is the perfect place to get away from it all, unplug and unwind. It is really easy to get to, being only a mile or so out of Fishguard and just off an A road, yet once there you really feel you are in your own secluded corner of Pembrokeshire.

You approach down quite a long lane and arrive at what will be your car park for the week, although you can drive up to most pitches to unpack and pack.

The showers (ingeniously recycled but perfectly warm and clean) washing up and communal area are housed The Cwtch which is a beautiful yet rustic structure, topped with a canvas roof.

Each pitch is in its own clearing in the woods, most of which can comfortably house 2 tents, some are on grass but most are on wood chips. All the pitches have an area under canvas which is large enough to house a picnic table and a fire pit. The fire pits have removable grills provided and there is an endless supply of chopped wood for you to use, there are even some pots and pans in the Cwtch for you to use on the fires if you don't want to use your own. Each pitch is also serviced by its own composting toilet, housed in a lovely wooden hut, all perfectly clean and you are provided with loo roll and anti-bac gel.

If you are looking for a glamping style holiday with all the creature comforts, this is not for you, but if you'd like to get away from the 21st century, see your kids roam free and sit around a roaring campfire every night in relative comfort and ease, this place is just wonderful.
