Firstly, we really enjoyed our stay here. At first, it seemed rather full, with a lot of caravans, but our pitch was by a stream, under trees, and wonderfully secluded. And in spite of appearances, the site was really not busy. Many of the caravans were not in use.
Very, very good washing/showering and dish washing facilities in a main block, over and underground. Warm indoor swimming pool (the room was too hot at times, the water fine). But there is also a pond on site and we loved swimming in there. Beautifully landscaped and well laid out, we spent a lot of time in and out of the water, and finding tadpoles, newts, dragonfly larvae and much more. There is a great safe shallow play area, sandy beach, and deeper swimming for adults. A lot packed into a small area with a grassy area to relax on.
Staff spoke great English, they looked after us very well, and were very understanding as we had to stay an extra night when our van broke down and had to be garaged. They even communicated to the garage on out behalf.
Ate at the guest house, where we also bought very good value ice creams. The food was superb, great value at about 15 Euro each for mains (like 3 plates with salad, fries and main course), drinks and ice cream for dessert.
The kids play area was excellent, with some unique types of equipment that our kids loved. Very good.
With our booking, we had free Guest Cards for touring some Black Forest places. We used these to get free access to the large swimming pool complex, to travel up a gondola and tower, and to enter a couple of museums. Great savings for us, and we could have enjoyed boat trips, the toboggan and other things if we'd had time.
The on site shop we felt was a bit limiting, but we used Lidl (familiar to us from the UK) and there were two near enough to include on our return journeys out and about.
We visited 4 campsites on our Europe trip and this was the best of the bunch.

A very good site in the Black Forest. It is very clean, good washing/shower facilities though the pitches are a bit tight and mostly on grass. Quite a few units were seasonal but that made no difference. Unusually, it has its own brewery and 2 restaurant/guest houses - great for an afternoon ice and coffee or an evening meal. Don't think that means it is huge as it is not oversized or over commercial at all. There is also a small supermarket on site and an indoor pool as well as an outdoor natural swimming pond. The site is situated on a farm and it is possible to take your horse there and stay! They welcome dogs and cats! There is a sauna/massage service available too plus adequate laundry facilities. A bus stop is nearby and you receive a Hochschwarzwald Karte which gives you free travel on buses, trains, even boats and entrance to some leisure attractions. There is a large play area for children and a dog walk leading off the site. It is a reasonable walk into pretty Lenzkirch which has a couple of decent supermarkets and a magnificent park. From there you can take buses elsewhere e. G. Titisee quite easily. It is close to the Swiss border (approx. 35kms) and has very easy access. The site is popular but we managed to get a pitch for a week without notice in peak season. This is a family owned site who are helpful and friendly.
