Good location for ODP.
Quiet & friendly, good washroom with hot showers.
Pity they don’t have a campers kitchen with a kettle & some mugs.
Not far from the town for pubs & grub.

The campsite was lovely with great facilities.
We had a lovely pitch within walking distance to Hay & Wye and our own compost toilet and shower facilities.
Would definitely recommend.

I stayed for 3 nights with my daughter, in a campervan, just before the Hay Literary Festival.
The field we stayed in was huge, with composting loos and washing up stations dotted around, and a fantastic new shower block with modern toilets (unisex)(all impeccably clean) just off the field (which I believe are now open all the time, though ask before committing, if you feel squeamish (like me!)(If not, I'd be hard pressed to find the facilities adequate for larger groups - and while I'm OK with composting loos, they really do need a lot of love to make them feel OK to me- and these ones had some love, but maybe not enough for full-time use for me).
The showers were in large cubicles with chairs and hooks, and had all the free hot water you needed The recycling around the site is fabulous - they are an eco site, so insist people recycle (which is wonderful).
There was a man who managed the campground, who checked in with us daily and was often around, and I believe one of the site owners was another person we saw a lot. He also made sure we were always happy. Which we were.
The views from the site varied depending on where you pitched up, with some overlooking the hills. The whole field is relatively flat, and there is a wonderful little woodland walk down to the wye river, where you can skip stones and maybe dip your feet in. From April - October, canoes are available to rent from two (?) local outfits (one I believe is part of the site?) for trips down the Wye River (one offers guided trips, the other is just pick-up at the end).
This site is very close to Hay-on-Wye, with all its shops, pubs, and countless bookshops. While we drove in each day for the festival, most people walked - maybe a mile or two to the actual festival, and likely only around a half mile to the town itself?
During the festival they also had a wonderful pop-up restaurant in a lovely building (yoga studio?)- expensive as heck, but soooooo delicious!
All in all, we had a lovely time. Lots of space for the kids to run about, and the forest bit, although not huge, was very nice to explore. I expect a bit of the romantic-camping-location feel was lost due to the Festival ramping up - it did feel a bit TOO huge and open. But I love that it was so close to a town which is so fun to explore, and I hope to return again soon, to see how it feels when it's just a regular-old campsite again :) I will check first that the modern block is open - that hugely impacted my loving the site. :)
