A well-run site with friendly owners. Great location for exploring SW Suffolk. Plenty of walks direct from the campsite in farmland, woods, nature reserve, riverside, local history (and dragon!). Information & maps available. Bures is nearest small town. Supermarket at Sudbury.
We enjoyed being in the meadow - plenty of space and views, stars at night if clear. Pitches in the wood also look good if you want the woodland experience, or shade. Remember a torch as there's no electricity on the campsite.
At the farm buildings the showers are good (£1 for 3 minutes fast flowing, put in £2 if you need longer) and shop is very handy (bread, milk, barbecue meat, home-cooked muffins, jams, ice-creams). You can even buy small quantities of sugar, tea bags, popping corn, marshmallows to toast, flour to make campfire dampers.
Risk assessment has been taken seriously, and during Covd19 hand sanitisers are in place where it matters, and social distancing practised.

I love this campsite.
Little ropers is a wild camping site on a working farm but with amazing character.
The woodland has a purpose built tiled floor flushing toilet and a wonderful meadow for four units next door. No cars allowed. Travel to the woodland is on foot or for a modest fee (and the kids love this, large and small) Andrew or Tom will taxi you there in the trailer.
There are heated toilets and showers in the farm yard and these are modern, clean and ideal for all. There is also a second woodland.
Family run campsite with Alpaca and cattle. Small shop with farm produce from jams, marmalade and pickles that are superb. Shop also has provisions to charge phones.
Been twice this year and heading back in December.
Fire pits and BBQ's available for use.
You really must visit to gain the full experience

Just returned from this amazing site having had a wonderful four days. The owners are so welcoming and friendly, the little honesty shop is well stocked, the countryside is stunning and the walks straight from the campsite are picturesque and well marked.
The owners let the kids feed a calf from a bottle several times and they loved playing in the woodland. We were in the meadow field as our tent too large for the woodland but it was equally lovely. Campfires are encouraged and lots of equipment if available to borrow.
The actual site is a 10 minute walk from the carpark but the owner will transport your stuff to the site and back for £6, well worth it. Showers are £1 for 3 minutes. Hot and clean.
I highly recommend this site if you want back to basics, quiet camping in a beautiful countryside setting.

Visited for one night in October with my son on a cycling weekend.
It was the end of a looooong day cycling and we arrived with just a little time left before we lost the light.
What a friendly reception we got, it certainly brightened up the end of a saddle sore day!
We got a few bits and bobs from the shop and a bag of firewood (really good, had a little newspaper and some kindling on top and plenty to see us through the evening)
Facilities are basic but perfectly functional (but you don't come here for the facilities)
We were in a tiny pup tent and had a small secluded pitch. What a wonderful evening - although it was late October it was lovely to sit by the fire and toast some food.
In the morning being gently woken by a wonderful array of birdsong was a lovely way to start the day.
If you're looking for a great friendly reception, woodland camping away from any traffic noise etc this is the place for you.
Will definitely return.
Thank you
