 We found this site by change and courtesy of the ACSI app. It's a bit remote but when we arrived late one afternoon and were allocated a nice pitch overlooking the lake, we thought we'd struck gold and were subsequently ready to consider a long-stay.
Eating supper whilst looking across the lake and watching lights on the hills beyond reflect in the water was simply idyllic. In the morning, however, the lake didn't look quite so impressive and there was a distinct odour in the air. Nevertheless, we set about exploring the site.
The sanitary blocks are modern and clean. The toilets in the main blocks are separate from the showers and washbasins, so you basically have to nip in the second part to wash your hands (unless you don't bother!). Washing up sinks are outside but under cover and there was plenty of hot water, so no problems there. There's a small laundry with a couple of machines, which don't cost the earth. A nice children's playground completes what seems to be a good, family-orientated site.
There's a small pool up by reception and they run a bar and small restaurant on site (we didn't use it so can't comment on quality or price). Staff were always friendly and smiling.
By evening, the lake was looking much depleted and the smell was fast becoming a stench, so we asked at reception what was going on. We were informed the lake was being drained and the stink was the dead fish! Apparently, it's drained every year at this time and we were advised to watch the herons feeding on the dead fish!
By the following morning, the view from our pitch was less than appealing and the pong a bit more than we could stand, so we decided to move on.
The moral of this story is: it's a nice site but probably best to visit it earlier in the season, rather than later!
