Its a football field at the back of a pub but what more do you need. There is running cold water tap and use of the football shower block which was warm and Graham the owner of the pub was very welcoming.
Ate here as we had read that you could camp on the field at the back of the pub. Food was good. My husband had the home made steak short crust proper pie which he thought was fantastic. I had the lasagne which was homemade and very tasty. Our daughter had the kids scampi which was good. Beer also good and staff very friendly.
Graham the owner wouldn't take any money for camping over two nights because we ate in the pub. He only charges £5 per tent/caravan if you use it for a stopover.
There is use of the football changing rooms if you need toilet or shower. Had a great weekend. Will return.
We stopped at The Panfield Bell having visited Freeport Shopping Village for the day on our way home. The football pitch was too wet to get on to pitch but the landlady said we could stay for free in the car park if we popped in for a drink in the pub.
The pub itself was delightful, child friendly with plenty of room in the car park for our motorhome. The night we stayed several locals were in the pub which made for a good atmosphere. There is an excellent pub menu including a main course with a beer for £7. 50.
There was a beer garden and a large football pitch which in better weather would be ideal.
I found this site by pure chance and what a find. The facilities are basic, there are toilets and showers to use in a football changing area which is well kept and warm.
There is no hook up but who needs that anyway when you have a good leisure battery and a 15 th century pub to go and mingle with the locals. The main field is spacious and there is room for plenty of campers and caravans and is tree lined all the way round which makes for a safe secure place to be.
The landlord and landlady gave us a warm welcome and are very nice friendly people as were all the staff and locals.
The food in the pub courtesy of nick the chef was very good and very reasonably priced this is one of those gems you want to keep to yourself we are looking forward to going back very soon. Lee & Liz x
