 Municipal site so E19 with electricity.
Brilliant position between the Citadelle and the Dordogne.
Adequate wcs showers sinks and washing up, hot water and (usually) Papier hygenique.
Supermarket in town, bars boulangeries, museum, Sunday markets, ww2 tanker wreck offshore. Beware of mozzies.

Reviewers - mature couple with campervan and bikes.
We were following the Gironde river towards the sea and noted where the campsites were. We stopped at this town for a lunch break, it is right on the river and has a small port and quayside. The campsite was signposted from the quay, it is just further along, between the river and the Citadel walls. There is no barrier, so we chose a pitch next to the river, and explored the town whilst waiting for the warden to open the office.
The site is flat and grassy, well cared for. There is a public path runs round the outside beneath the walls and out into parkland and a fishing pond, this is one of the routes into the Citadel. In the park is a playground, and just outside the gates is the public swimming pool, the outdoor pool was busy with schoolchildren having lessons.
The lady warden was very pleasant, and as well as booking me in gave me a map of the town, pointing out the places of interest.
The sanitary block is near the entrance, old fashioned but extremely clean when we arrived. All unisex, though as the facilities are the same front and back, may have once been single sex. The washing up is outside under cover, this water wasn't very warm, we reheated it in the kettle, but the showers were hot enough.
The town has some interesting buildings and a museum, and is worth a visit. There are numerous shops, and a supermarket at the top on the main road.
The next day we left to visit another town, but didn't like the situation of the campsite so came back here for a second night. The warden was a man this time, not quite as helpful, and the facilities hadn't been cleaned.
The price was moderate, dearer than I expected for a site with few facilities. Lots of campervans stayed on the quay overnight, and came to the campsite to use the toilets and MH service point just by the entrance.
We would use this site again for it's position on the river.
