Lovely secluded site, large hardsanding pitches, very friendly owners. Facilities are good but as with previous comments, showers need a curtain to protect clothes from splashes(I left mine on the window ledge in the passageway). Aldi and iceland ten minutes walk, bus stop about eight minutes with regular service, but best way into York is the twenty minute walk along the river. We are going back to this site later in the year when it's a bit warmer

We arrived on the 23rd December having booked for four nights. Found the site without problems as it's just off the A19 down St Oswalds Road. The lane to the site was lower than the site itself but more on this later. As the period was quiet, we had a choice of pitches - all hard standing so settled down for the Christmas holidays. The wardens, who lived on site, were very friendly without being obtrusive and showed us every courtesy and help in getting around the area. A short walk took us up to the main bus route so York was but a few minutes away so some last minute shopping became the order of the day. Christmas day passed and Boxing day was spent wandering amongst the sights and sounds of York. We were due to leave on the 27th but overnight, disaster struck. The flood barrier for the river Foss, upstream from our site, was raised causing the river Ouse to rise by a few feet. You remember I mentioned the lane being below the level of the site. ? Well, a previously dry lane instantly became a four-foot deep river and this being the only road to the site, meant that we were marooning for the duration. On a positive note, we could leave the site by crossing a field to the main road so while we waited for the waters to recede, we spent some more time in York and the area. The wardens, Terry and Bella could not have been more helpful and made our incarceration a pleasant experience.

Stayed here at the beginning of August for 5 night which as £100 including hookup for a SWB camper and 3 dogs.
The site is all hardstanding, three rows of 7, maybe 8 pitches. The ground is VERY hard, it is a hard time whacking the awning pegs in, we had to go and buy some of those thick plastic ones in the end.
The owners were friendly enough though I did get told off for letting my dog have a poo on the road! I *always* pick up after my dog and this time was no exception so I didn't know what her problem was. We had a chat later and she said it was because kids play in the area, which is fair enough considering there is absolutely nothing to do for kids on site.
York is about a fifteen / twenty minute walk and it is a beautiful walk too.
The facilities were adequate with a washing up bowl outside, lovely warm showers (though a shower curtain wouldn't go amiss, nor an extra hook!)
There is a grassy patch behind the showers which we didn't realise was for tents, so I am really glad the owner didn't see us letting our dogs have their morning weee there!

Stayed at this site for a couple of nights, friendly helpful owners, all pitches are hardstanding and level with plenty of space between pitches. There is a small grassed area for 2 or 3 tents. Toilet block has 2 showers and 2 toilets for ladies and the same for men, there is also a disabled shower room all with easy access and no steps. Plenty of free hot water.
The only minus is that the showers could do with a curtain or screen to stop clothes getting wet, and a couple of extra hooks, also block is not spotlessly clean but not too bad, I've been in much worse.
There's a lovely riverside walk into york along the cycle path it takes about 20 mins, pub, takeaways, aldi etc are about 15 mins walk.
Site has security gates which are closed at night, access is by key pad.
All in all a nice site I will certainly go back.
